Bought this for a friend of ours who likes making things. Having previously bought him a make your own whittling knife, he loved it.

This book contains loads of ideas and tasks for someone interested in whittling. The projects are varied and it is a good place to start to know about how to use the different tools. It also has a good section on learning different techniques, as a beginner. My only hesitation is the fact that the projects themselves can be quite complex for a beginner. This could be more appropriate for someone who has had a little bit of experience and skill in whittling first.

Bought this as a gift for my partner who sad he fancied trying his hand at whittling!It's a great book and he has had a great deal of fun pouring over it and giving some of the patterns a go. To be honest I've looke at it and thought that calling it a "starter guide" may be a bit strong as some of the projects look far from easy to my untrained eye! But then what do I know? I'm not a whittler!What's great about this book is that it doesn't just give you the projects themselves but also tips on where to source wood and how to pick the best kind of stick for the project which seems to be the hardest part and wouldn't have been something I would have considered without the book.I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of things my partner makes now thanks to this book!

This was a present for my son in-law, who was very exited to get started on wood carving. I must say he has made a few miniature models that have turned out very good. He is a very happy man.

It’s nice to have a book to refer to; but in this instance, I’ve found better success in watching videos online to see how it’s done as pics/text don’t always fully capture it. This book is good if you’re looking for a more in depth explanation but I didn’t find many projects that I actually wanted to do in it

Seems to be OK accoridning to the gift receiver.
