A reviewer stated that this system cannot receive incoming calls from cell phones...is this correct? i would think most incoming calls are from cells.

Speaker phone is plenty loud!!!

Well I almost didn't order these, due to majority of the reviews stating that the speaker phone wasn't as loud as the older models. Since all we use is speaker phone on all calls. Well glad I took a chance cause actually this speaker phone is much louder than the older model we had. It works great & is plenty loud enough. I let the reviews on these prevent me from ordering for several days while researching other models and brand names. All the Panasonic models stated the speaker phone was lower but that was not true at all. Anyway, glad we took a chance n ordered these. We've always had Panasonic and they have always seemed to be the most durable and long lasting phones vs other brands. When my daughter was young, she dropped our phone in to the fish tank over the weekend while we were gone. On Sunday night we returned home, discovered it, removed it, put in in to a bag of rice and left it for about 5 days. Removed it, replaced battery n it worked just fine. The volume didn't seem to be as loud but we used that set of phones for another year or 2. Anyway if your looking for a great house phone or Bluetooth link to cell, these are what u've been lookn for.

Overall one of the best cordless phones on the market

Reading the reviews of this model, one would think it's hopelessly complicated to set up and use. Yes, there are lots of options and those options result in complexity. Fortunately there are built-in menus, and virtually all of the settings can be accessed from the menus if one takes the time. Some settings are buried and best changed by going to the manual and entering the associated codes. If the manual's lost, it can be quickly downloaded from the Panasonic site in just a few seconds. What I would love to see is a cordless phone that lets you use its Bluetooth connection to use your smartphone to change all the settings using an app, but I'm aware of no cordless phone make or model that does that. However, settings are something one alters only once in general - and once set, their ease of setting has a negligible effect on daily use of the phone. If you do nothing more than plug your phone into a phone line and a power outlet, you'll have a highly capable phone that will set itself up automatically with the proper date and time, and which will answer calls after the fourth ring with a generic greeting to leave a message. If you're happy with that, you need do nothing more. I like that Panasonic has gone to using standard rechargeable AAA batteries, which are included and otherwise readily available. Finding replacements is trivial, but the included batteries usually last years. Linking to a cell phone is no more difficult than pairing any two Bluetooth devices, but it still works well with a land line for those of us who still use one.The call block function works beautifully and Panasonic has added a dedicated button on every handset. On getting a spam call, simply press the button and confirm, and you'll never get a call from that number again. That feature alone is worth upgrading your phone. Call quality is very good and call volume is easily adjusted. Call waiting works well, with the second caller's number clearly displayed with caller ID. Spoken caller ID - as with previous models - can be a bit annoying and sometimes humorous in the way it tries to pronounce things, but the feature is useful when you're not near a phone. The one complaint, which is not unique to this phone, is what happens when there is interference. Some other reviews have touched on poor call quality as an issue, but we've found the call quality itself to be nearly perfect. The problem is that we live in a high-rise apartment building with thousands of tenants around us. At any time there are about two dozen Wi-Fi networks within range, and our wireless mice and keyboards occasionally cease to function due to all the RF interference. Although it's not common, we sometimes lose the connection during a call; most often with the person at the other end being unable to hear us. Simply turning around can affect call quality. The spread spectrum digital transmission method used by Panasonic goes a long way toward alleviating call problems - and there really has been a significant improvement over early cordless models - but in the age of extensive mesh Wi-Fi networks for the home, you'd think Panasonic could improve on the good old cordless phone. Maybe it really is time to stop using landlines.

Good set for the money. Panasonic user for years.

Replaced an older set of the 500 series with this set. This comes with batteries for each handset too. Easy set up and easy to use if you are familiar with the Panasonic line.We use these phones almost as much for Intercom as we do calls lol. But it works great.1 thing. It seems Panasonic, as well as other phone makes have reduced sound quality over the past 5 years. These have reviews showing that, but look at other makes and you see the same complaints. The sound is clear on these, but a little more volume would be nice. I use the speaker phone function all the time and the newer phones just went cheap on that function. Maybe it is because they all introduced 'Old People" phones with amplified speakers they charge 3-4x more for? No clue.Other than that they work fine in all parts of the house and in the garage and yard. Small and clear sound from all 5 handsets.

Great for a larger house

We still have a landline - because of the location of our house to the nearest tower - and this Panasonic system replaced our last phone system after almost 25 years of use.It is easy to recharge, hook up and use. The handsets let you access the features, the displays are easy to read, and the messages are easy to retrieve.Neither of us feels the need to carry a cell phone when we are home - but this system lets us program it so that cell calls ring in the house. That is a nice feature. So is the call-blocking system. The handset is comfortable to use, sound is great. One thing that we don't care for is the volume adjustment which has migrated from dedicated buttons on the side to the multi-pivot button on the face of the phone.Another feature that we really didn't like was the off-putting "voice tone" to remind you when a phone is running low. It's just creepy, and if you aren't prepared for it sounds needful. IT IS EASY TURNED OFF.Each handset needs to set, otherwise, you'll still have "Low Batt, Low Batt" every hour on the hour until to change the thing. One last thing and this could be unique to our item, is that the batteries installed did seem to last very long until we shut off that "Low Batt" reminder. But I recommend this system. If it lasts even half as long as the previous one, then its money well spent for us.
