Incredible media and gaming capabilities! A great purchase!
A fantastic value console that really compliments our home entertainment area! There is a lot of bickering in the console market, some like green, some like blue. However, if you are looking for a fantastic, easy, accessible gaming solution for you and the family you really can't go wrong with either of the main consoles! We bought the XBO and the PS4 to compliment the PS3, 360 and PC etc and can say without hesitation that BOTH of these systems have some fantastic exclusives and multiplatform games. The XBO is a wonderful feat of engineering with some great media capabilities that keep the entire family entertained for hours On end. Initally I was going to cover the pros and cons of both consoles in my review, the differences between them etc... But after re reading my review, I decided to scrap that and say this...In the last few months, I have played both the XBO and the PS4 and expereinced emotions, toward gaming, that I have not had since the days of my NES, SNES, Mastersystem, MegaDrive!I feel that the last few generations or so has really pushed the gaming market in a strange direction, it became saturated with yearly releases of the same games, some getting worse after every release, it also went on far too long! By the end of the generation I thought I was done with gaming for good, I thought it was over for me...Until I played games on BOTH of these consoles!I was transformed back to a time where the creativity behind the game was the driving force, not the cash reward! This is going to be an exciting generation, regardless of system, we now have the ability to truly expereice what the developers Imaginations Intended. So let's put aside the specs for now, let's forget the colour of the box, let's sit down, and marvel at the incredible gaming experiences currently available to us on BOTH of these consoles and make some Incredible gaming memories together!

totally ripped off
unfortunately it was faulty and did not work.. it was a gift for someone and they was so disappointed when they tried it recently.. won't update which renders it useless. cheap rubbish sold at a high price.. wasted £309 pounds. so embarrassing. another useless amazon seller.

Very pleasantly surprised
I'd had my doubts about the Xbox One (so much so that I opted for a PS4 when it came out...) but, as a long-time Xbox fan, I decided to give one a try. And I'm glad I did. It's a great console. The PS4 might well have more going for it in a hardware sense, but the Xbox One is a lot of fun. Very easy to use. I already had a Kinect 2.0 so I opted for the basic console. Wasn't sure what to expect, but it's a streamlined affair; nice menu, very responsive voice commands, and the hand gestures thing is brilliant, although if you buy this particular console without the Kinect, that's not really something you're going to care about. I've been playing Dead Rising 3 and Titanfall so far. The former is an extremely fun bit of zombie-swarm, smash em' up escapism while the latter is an incredible online campaign affair. I'd even go so far as to say that I'm no longer 'pro' SOny OR 'pro' Microsoft. I love both machines for different reasons. Seriously, if you're a gamer you need to at least try everything to see what works for you. Xbone gets a solid 5/5 from me.

it works but old and mucky inside
It works..... It's 10 years old ...i had a problem updating (E100 error) but managed to sort it the next day after trying for six hours the previous night, but that is not the fault of the person who sold it....The one thing I would say it was filthy inside it looked like it had been owned by a plasterer who spilt plaster all over his room every time he started playing with his xbox...it looks like there has been some liquid inside as well..The left bumper button doesn't work properly and the right stick drifts...if there was a warranty and the warranty depended on the security sticker not being removed it had already been removed and was stuck on partially by some glue... but I had to take it to pieces to clean it...overall for the price I paid its O K...If you are expecting a nice clean Xbox you may be expecting too much it's definitely not cleaned inside.I'm going to give going to give 3 stars because it was very mucky and 10 years old....

As usual an excellent machine with good game titles
As usual an excellent machine with good game titles...but....The buyers needs to be aware of the electrical consumption when the console is turned off.In this mode the machine consumes in the UK 15 - 20 watts per hour every hour day and night. If you are concerned about waste energy, CO2 emissions and costs, then for everymillion machines installed this equates to ONE 15 MEGA WATT power station just to run the machine on standby mode.If you are not then it`s no bother and your electricity provider will love you all the more for it.If you want to cut down on wasted electricity then when you have finished playing the machine, unplug it at the mains ,wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. The standbyconsumption then falls to ONE WATT per hour. The downside to this is that you willalways be returned to the green start up screen every time. Microsoft didn`t have to makethe machine this way but they did. So why did they? The Xbox360 wasn` t made this way as onconsole shut down the XBOX 360 usage falls to 0.0 Watts.
