Got this for a mid sixties Suffolk colt mower, it's not a necessity, but it was made to use leaded petrol and I can tell the difference, easier to start and very quiet running.

Pinking is significantly reduced and the engine run on has been cured. I would recommend using Redex.
I have been using this Redex lead replacement for several years on a number of classic cars including a Jaguar series 3. The latest car is a old MGB which does not have the unleaded conversion cylinder head so needs a fuel additive. I have found that when using Redex the "pinking" that it used to suffer when driving up a high in a high gear is significantly reduced and the engine run on that I have experienced when I forget to put it in is practically eliminated. The engine seems to start and run smoother and I have never had any negative problems with it so I would recommend using Redex. It is very easy to use. The bottle has got marks on it to show you how much to put in and I just tip in the required amount when I fill up with petrol. The lid makes a good seal so you can keep the bottle in your boot without it spilling.
