like for like replacement of kia ceed 3 crdi 115hp 2012 key
you may wanna look up a video on youtube first, as splitting the original key destroys the case, inside your key is a little chip, and a pcb with buttons, a battery, and a spring.split the case of the key whilst the key is inside a large ziplock bag so that way the spring is contained if it flys off at the speed of light, once you split the halves and the spring is out you can pop out the pcb, to the right of the key blade assembly is your fob chip that you need to recover from the little "corner" of the keycase, dont forget to install that in the new key.if like me you're changing your blade over you need to remove the pin from the blade to release the blank so you can insert your blade, put the blade sideways on a solid table and using a 3mm centre punch give the pin a good few whacks with the help of a hammer and then once its partially left the hole use a pair of flush cutters to grab the pin and pull it the rest of the way out, i had to file down part of my original keyblade so the pin could fit in the little cut out, file the blade carefully and check it in the blade assembly to make sure there is enough clearance for the pin, dont file too much material away, once the blade and pin are refit tap them back in with the 3mm centre punch and you're good.assembly is easy enough, put the chip in the case then put the pcb in the back half of the case, fit the spring with the little leg into the key half where the leg locks into position, rotate the spring with the keyblade assembly on it 2-3 times counter clock wise to put tension on it and put it into position then snap the two key halves back together.total time to destroy old keycase = 6 minutes.total time to assemble new key from old key blade key and pcb with new key = 4 minutes.I was hesitant a £10 key replacement would be any decent or work but im glad i purchased it as my kia ceed is new to me only a week old of ownership and one key is missing a blade and the buttons are damaged and the other key which i can use has a poorly superglued keyblade assembly that is 5 minutes from falling apart and the blade falling out somewhere i wont be able to find it.5/5 for quick and ease of use and for being affordable.

Do not throw transponder chip away. That looks like broken piece of plastic.
Cheap and efficient way to replace a faulty fob. However as there no instructions it can be tricky. I have known a few people to throw away the old transponder chip thinking it is broken plastic. If you do this your car will not start and will need to or reprogrammed. MAKE SURE YOU REPLACE TRANSPONDER CHIP INTO NEW FOB. IT IS NOT A BROKEN PIECE OF PLASTIC.Overall a good cheap product, only downside was key blade from old key did not fit properly.

Work perfectly. Remember ID chip from old unit so no surprises.
These work perfectly as replacement fobs. Transfer over the circuit board and battery. Knock out the pin holding the metal lock blank and replace with your key lock, put pin back and finally b4 closing up pop out ur id chip for immobilser (behind a bit of white platic inside old fob) and put in new fob in same location. Close and enjoy. Get stuff! Would give 6 star if I could.

Brilliant replacement, a little fiddly, but you can do it!
Our old car fobs deteriorated from old age…clearly not meant to last the rest of time! Anyway, after googling I found these. They are brilliant and fairly easy to replace your old ones.Firstly, get a plastic clear bag big enough you can get both hands in it holding a screw driver and pair of players. Next get the screwdriver and plyers. To open the old fob, put it in the plastic bag and use a flathead screwdriver to gently open the fob trying to keep the fob held supported together as you don’t want all of the internal parts flying all of the place. Once open, you will find a flat electronic panel - this will be placed in the new fob exactly the same way around that it is as you remove it from the old one. There will be a wound up spring - to is is what can fly out at you when you open it, there is a hinder deactivate DONT LOSE IT! You need to take this out as well and place it in the same place it came from. It’s hidden in a top corner of the fob. Once all the parts are out, do the same to open the replacement one, lay all the parts as they were in the old one. This point is inportant otherwise your flick like key element won’t flick. You need to place (I keep the old one as it looked slightly beater quality) the spring in place with the silver button that flicks out the key, holding it in place as you don this, turn it anti clockwise twice, hold it and replace the unit top over and click together. If you e done it right, when you press the silver button your key should flick out. The fob should work immediately, if it hasn’t you may not have put the battery up the right way, maybe forgot the deactivator… We’ve been using ours now for at least 6 months and are great.

Quality key housing replacement
These are really good quality and feel just like the original. Pretty easy to change over if you have basic motor skills. If you’ve never swapped one before (like me) just make sure you wind the spring the right way and also don’t forget to take that white bit of plastic and small piece of metal from the old fob and put it in the new one. I think it’s got something to do with the immobiliser or something because our car wouldn’t start without it.

Instructions not included. Car may not start!!!
Be warned. Your car will NOT start using this replacement fob unless you also move the transponder from the old case over to the new. The transponder is a small, black and almost invisible triangular/trapesium sort of shaped thign which is almost invisible and wasy to throw away with the old fob. It is CRITICAL this thing is transferred as well as the key and the internal electronics. Failure to do so will result in yoru car NOT starting!!! BE WARNED!! Shame this is not made clear in the instructions. It is very vaguely mentioned only.
