I wonder if you can put this against a Sanding Belt to get rid of the Raised parts from the Molding/Casting ??? Manufacturer Should have fixed this.
is the current $33 the "great price" people have mentioned ? seems crazy high for a simple amzn basics tool ...

Good but needs a little work to make it better.

Great little sanding block for the money, The only issue I found with it, is it has holes in bottom of it and they all had quite bad flash which just needs trimming off 1 minute with a Stanley blade to cut the flash off and the sanding sheet sites perfectly flat now.

Good for wet sandind

Well made and excellent for wet sanding using sanding mesh. The holes in the block make it easy to rinse clear any clogged material

Few issues with design

This my first sander of such design, and I feel the design is flawed, for few reasons. First, if the sand paper is not tightly put on it can get torn while in use, lose edge getting stuck and pulled hence getting torn from the part where nails are holding the paper. Second, it waste sandpaper, the bit which goes under the handle on to the gripping nails, does not get used. I don’t like wasting stuff. Quality of the product is made of average quality plastic/rubber. Not impressed.

Traditional Looking Flatting Block

Working in the vehicle body repair trade for most of my life a block not un-similar to this was always in the flatting bucket, this one in shape is the same even the way the abrasive paper is held in place by 3 little spikes, but it differs in the way it's made up from of two materials the outer black and the inner yellow, it also is filled with holes, I am not sure what the idea behind that is, maybe it's to keep the weight down or maybe help hold water when wet flatting, the holes however have excess rubber from the mould around the edges , which does not give this block a completely flat surface, not that would effect heavy grit papers maybe only with finer grit, I tried with P320 and it was ok, this excess will probably just wear off but it's easy enough to remove if needed, a good enough sanding block for the DIYer.

Does the job well.

I have cork sanding blocks which are great, but was keen to see how this compared. As stated it takes a 1/4 sheet of sandpaper. The slots in the ends can be opened up, and the paper slid in. Two spikes then pierce the paper to hold it in place. It's a fiddly procedure the first time, but get easier with practise. In use the block is great, with a good feel in the palm of your hand due to the curved top of the block.I did find the edges of the sandpaper where it protrudes from the slots could be a little sharp on fingers, so 'blunting' them before use was a good idea.It did a good job and I will happily use it. The only slight faff is cutting sheets of sandpaper down to size as I don't routinely buy 1/4 sheets.

useful.. kind of

this item is okay but it's a little fiddly getting the paper to tuck in the ends and as the sandpaper is kept in place by 3 spikes either end you have to be careful when getting it in there. It also tended to rip away easily. It may just be me being old fashined and tending to wrap my sanding paper round any nearest block of wood but i didn't get on brilliantly with it (saying that, it could have been the cheap sandpaper i used..)It did arrive very quickly.

All good

The attach points on my old sanding block got damaged so I needed a new one. This was my choice. It does well, fits the standard sanding sheets I already had and the splashes of colour makes it easier to find in the tool drawer! Feels good to use.

Simply, grippy, compact

If like me you just wrap sandpaper around the nearest offcut of wood, that may be fine if you don't do much hand sanding. But this is an investment that will last for years and arguably ensure your paper doesn't crease and rip. Good
