I’ll buy again.
I got a bypass filter for inside my refrigerator and used this filter externally. It works great, reasonably priced, easy to install and change. Now I control when I change my refrigerator filter.

Has A Plastic Taste
I have some trepidation over water leakage after reading other reviews but so far so good. It was relatively easy to install for an 81 year old guy with a bum leg but the wife complains of a plastic taste after 3 days. We hope the taste improves over the next week but to be honest, I'll purchase a different filter next time with threaded inlets due the complaints about water leakage.

I found this to work fairly well and it did not take that long to install. It may not last that long though as I have fairly hard water.

10,000 gallon in-line filter!
Easy to install and it works. I installed at the inlet of my refrigerator and the 5 year or 10,000 gallon capacity is the main selling point for me.

Worked for my needs
My fridge has a built in replaceable filter, but the ice still has a funny taste. I'm not sure the filter affects the water for the ice maker, maybe it's only for the door water dispenser. The water tastes better than the ice. Regardless, I was thinking about buying a dedicated ice maker even though I didn't really want to. I found these external inline filters in a search and decided to try one on the supply line to the refrigerator. It made a huge difference and saved me a ton of money on a dedicated ice maker. It didn't make it perfect, but it was enough of an improvement. Definitely worth the purchase price, even if it doesn't last the full 5 years. Time will tell.
