I own two of these. One is always kept in my desk chair and one is in my car (with a bench seat). I can't sit in either of those two seats without this for very long without feeling uncomfortable. I have a lower back birth defect and as you could imagine I have a set of problems that goes along with it. This back cushion makes sitting for long periods far, far more tolerable. Without a back cushion my lower back and hips start to bother me quite a bit. It also helps push my whole seat forward a few inches which helps a ton. I have very short legs and moving my butt forward in the chair keeps my legs hanging where they should and my feet touching the ground. The support is quite firm but still has a little give to help cushion. It needs to be firm otherwise it won't support, it'll just conform. It has a nice fabric cover and what feels like a plastic (maybe thick cardboard?) backing on the inside to keep it flat. It's definitely not an elegantly textured pillow or anything of the sort but it looks good enough for my taste. It gets the job done, it's relatively inexpensive and best of all, it lets me sit without hating life. :-)

I got it fast due to amazon prime 2 day shipping. It was packaged in a amazon box with paper by itself. The back support was shrink wrapped and had all the original manufacturer materials. It has an elastic strap the fits around my desk chairs back and it holds in place as you would expect. There is a slit in the back to remove the foam so you can wash it. There is also a double thick clip board sized piece of wood behind the foam inside the sleeve. Gives it some firmness. Probably to make sure the foam does not dip into whatever shape might be behind it. There by giving you the exact support it is supposed to provide.It is shaped just right and feels comfortable. ie no edges poking me. The side supports comfortably wrap around and make me feel like I have a bucket seat office chair. I am 6'1" tall and 190lbs. My waist is about 34-36in. The side supports are perfectly designed for me. If your waist is thicker than mine, you might find the side supports pushing on your kidneys.I still have lower back discomfort. That really has nothing to do with the product. I was just hoping to notice a change right away. Time will tell. However, my upper back feels better, because I am not hunching over any more.

Because of my car's arm-rest configuration, I can't get the not-very-generous elastic strap over the seat to secure it in place. Since my previous one didn't even have a strap, that doesn't confront me much. But it would be better if it had a longer, thicker elastic strap w/velcro. It's comfortable and well-made enough for me to be happy with it...but I wish it was a tiny bit smaller; it takes up a fair amount of room within the seat area. On the other hand, it give much better support that my last, smaller one.

I have severe scoliosis & chronic back pain. This pillow is perfect for me. I use one in the car & am purchasing another to use in my new recliner, which lacks the firm lumbar support I need. I especially like the firmness of this pillow.

Like the negative reviews mentions, it's too bad they decided to go cheap and not have zippers and quality to be inferior. It's just a slit on the back; over time, it started to curl and expose the back. I decided to just have it sewed back completely. I really would have preferred a zipper; although I don't see the point of washing the material inside.I actually use this for my car and it's best when used in combination with an added extra seat cushion and not just your bare seats; that makes it balance out the comfort level for me. I feel more secure in my seat then, like a racer car driver, more than the bucket seats. Along with this and extra cushion, I had no discomfort or fatigue driving 5 hours straight. If it feels uncomfortable for you, definitely try adding a seat cushion.Despite the flaws, I ended up buying another one and the straps easily broke off. I was somehow able to put the straps on my car seat for the first one, but it will leave a mark and it was very difficult. I don't believe the straps were made to be put on a car seat in mind - it's almost impossible and it will rip off trying to force it.

This lower back lumbar support cushion has been a real back saver for me. I use it every day in both the personal vehicle and the work truck. It makes a huge difference on long drives. I have had this for about three years now and it still looks and feels new. Not expensive, durable, and comfortable. Keeps my lower spine in the correct position. I am quite uncomfortable on the days that I forget to transfer it from one vehicle to the next. I should mention that I do not use the elastic strap and I believe it would fail quickly if I did. Although it may slide around a bit and some more expensive alternatives may not; for my money this is the right combination of effectiveness, durability and price.Update 07/09/2017: I purchased in Nov 2014 and it has been used almost everyday since. It is finally showing some signs of wear at the bottom of the cover (2 small holes) still impressed given the low cost.
