Decent alternative to a subscription
I got the sync module 2 after having my blink doorbell and blink mini for over a year. Previously had the blink subscription but didn’t particularly want to pay for another year, so purchased this instead as a money saving option. It was super easy to set up, and is fairly neat and compact in size. If you want the app to save clips, you need to plug a USB into the module. Doesn’t need to be a fancy or special USB, if you have an old one hiding in a drawer somewhere, that’ll do. The module only needs power which can be via plug socket or USB cable (both included in the box) and can be put anywhere in the home as long as it’s got wifi connection. I can now do live view on the doorbell which I couldn’t do before on the blink subscription as my doorbell runs on battery not mains. So that’s a nice bonus.Hilariously, blink/amazon have added a delay from you clicking on a clip in the app to watch to when it loads, claiming it takes longer to load from USB which is honestly ridiculous in this day and age - I imagine they’ve done this to try and get you to use the cloud annual subscription instead which is very naughty of them. I’m not bothered about the clip loading delay but can see how it might frustrate people, especially if you’ve gone from cloud storage (via the subscription) to local storage (via the module). My only negative is that the module has annoyingly bright blue and green lights on them which is so unnecessary. If you set it up in a room where someone with light sensitivity sleeps, you may want to keep it upside down or get some of those stickers that block the lights.

DON'T buy Blink
DON'T buy Blink. It isn't enjoyable when a doorbell doesn't function properly ten meters from the Wi-Fi router. The connection is consistently lost to the WIFI Router, and it becomes a pastime to try resetting the device to default settings and re-registering on Blink servers. Blink also tries to sell their cloud storage. Please, do us a favour: don't buy from this brand. I returned the doorbell and the Blink Add-On Sync Module 2, thinking videos would be stored locally as a first step. This turned out not to be true. The Wi-Fi Router serves as an upload link to their Cloud Services to force you to upgrade to their Cloud Services, and then is downloaded to the Blink Add-On Sync Module 2, 24 hours after someone triggers the Doorbell. Why Why Why? It could have avoided many problems had the videos made with the door camera been stored on the Blink Add-On Sync Module 2 instead of their Cloud Storage first, instead of the Blink Add-On Sync Module 2. The latter action could have sped things up. So, please don't buy their cloud services, and Blink Add-On Sync Module 2; they waste time and money when a doorbell for £20 works out of the box without needing some silly requirement to connect to the Wi-Fi router. You must understand when the Postman delivers the mail and can't do so for the Bell Door not to function accordingly, for financial profit, and don't get me wrong, I can afford the cost of Door Bells.
