Corona Machete: I never write reviews
I never write reviews because I simply do not have time to do this. However, I do read some. I have used this product before this purchase. I could not buy locally so I bought here. This product works as should. Some reviews talk about how its dull, will not cut, etc. This is ALL false information (for the most part). These people that comment like that do not know how to sharpen anything. This machete has a factory ground edge. We sharpen ours each day to the point they shave. Take about 10 minutes the first time and about 2 minutes each day after that to keep it that way. Its not a product flaw its a purchaser flaw in not knowing WHAT or HOW to do something. Mainly for themselves.Use a mill bastard file I like a 12" to sharpen it. I also prefer a handle on the file.So the product is great, performs well, and will cut your arm off if you would like for it too.

My Corona 18" machete is awesome
I am not sure why people write bad reviews about the Corona 18" machete. I have had one for several years that I keep in my Wrangler. It has been all over Western North Carolina and it has served me very well. I also use it while I garden and cut brush around the house. I even use it to dig small holes for bulbs. So, I just bought another one two days from Amazon just to have it for home use and keep my old faithful in the Wrangler. I have a 22" cold steel that is too big for what I used it in my home, and I put the Corona way ahead of it. I like the handle and the blade holds an edge well. As a matter of fact, my wife loves is as it is the best tool to use to cut a pumpkin in smaller pieces to fit in the oven.

can no longer sharpen with a file
It gets 1 star for actually being a product...but that’s all.I am a land surveyor and I use these tools every day. I’ve gone through every imaginable brand and type of machete. I don’t use a sheath and I don’t need one to last very long. I don’t care about thicknesses or the factory sharpening...which leads to my poor review.I’ve always bought these locally and I’ll go through 2 or 3 a year. Each time I buy a new one, I also buy a 12” Nicholson bastard file. Both seem to last about the same amount of time. I always apply a first sharpening myself because the factory one is terrible and in the wrong direction. I also sharpen each day and sometimes at midday after use the previous day.The last 2 I bought were from amazon. THEY ARE TEMPERED TOO HARD FOR A FILE!!! How stupid!Corona, please go back to the softer steel than can actually be sharpened with a file! This product is useless to me now, since I can’t use my file on it. Now, I’m on the hunt for another reliable product. I don’t care if it’s from China, I just need to be able to sharpen it in the field.

Just what I needed!
We live on a quarter acre of land right in the middle of town. Our back yard butts up against a 5 acre forest that is restricted from development. With that said, this means that parts of our back yard are invaded by a large variety of saplings, vines, volunteer corn, etc. There was nothing in my garage that could handle these "woody" invaders .... except a machete! This is just what the "gardener" ordered (so to speak)! It's the right tool for the right job! Light, very sharp, easy to handle. Now, if I can just talk my wife into giving it a try! She could take out her frustrations of being a secretary in a public high school on the invaders in our back yard! Kill two birds with one stone (so to speak). I recommend this item!
