“Remaking the Modern World” Review
The author of this book has been acknowledged as one of the most renown historians of this age and he has produced a very readable book covering major events in human history from the beginning of the 20th century until almost right now (2015). He concentrates on major and minor events in all reaches of the humanities that influenced the course of world history and their lasting effects on today’s political, cultural, and economics systems. The book reads very much as a sort of “ survey course” of world history, at times like a condensed version of a college textbook, but what sets it apart is the scope and endless stream of great information that puts major events like World War I and World II as well as global economics, and government in perspective along with scientific, and even popular entertainment in the various eras. You can better see how the world we live in today has evolved, the good and the bad.I like history in general and I found reading this book enjoyable. There are summaries at the ends of the chapters that drive the main points home. Though there is a lot to absorb if you stick with you’ll learn a lot, and see more “ popular” history myths in a more objective way and better understand how so much today came to be.Thanks for reading my reviewBecky Brooks

Interesting
"Remaking the Modern World 1900 - 2015: Global Connections and Comparisons (Blackwell History of the World)" by C. A. Bayly is an interesting presentation of history. It does make connections and comparisons. I did feel, at times, the time period was too broad but I guess the author wanted to bring it to as current a date as possible. The author does keep the reading accessible although it does seem clear that there is a lean to the narrative. I liked it in the sense that it makes one think even if there were spots that I didn't quite agree with.
