Great timer!
This is the best timer I have ever owned and I have used different brands over the years. Easy to install and setup. I love being able to setup my sprinklers, with the help of Toro, on my home desktop. I am going to get another one for the backyard.

Bad Software Makes This Unit a Bad Purchase
Doesn't work after programming via PC and the transfer via TimePod. When I connected it, a replacement of a no name brand unit, all the functions appeared to set up right, and in manual mode, I could see all 5 zones listed appropriately with the little raindrop icon in the display. Once I transferred the program, that didn't work. Two days with the "tech support" people at Toro via email, and they told me I must have "pushed the manual start button too hard and broke it." They told me to return it to Amazon and get another. Same issue. As soon as I transferred the desired watering times, nothing works except to set the date and time. It does not work in automatic or manual mode.I have an older one of this same model that works great. It's just these new ones, with the current software downloaded from www.toro.com, and it's on a new PC, so it isn't a conflict with older software. In short, their tech support is ineffective, a little rude, and I am now stuck with two units that don't work while it's 90 degrees outside with plants wilting. Life is too short to put up with poorly designed software. I would suggest skipping the fancy machine with bad software and just buy a good product from a different manufacturer. Amazon, you get this one back, and hopefully, the other one too. $140 for two units that don't work is more than disappointing.

The description says the sprinkler program can be created on PC and transferred to the timer. The timer did not come with the software to create the sprinkler program, but I did download the program from the Toro website for free. The software was easy to use since I have experience manually programming an older version of this timer.

Works great and easy to program
Solid, easy and flexible operation, but computer programmed schedules (flash loaded) are not trustworthy, I would never adopt the programmed irrigation schedule for our ZIP codeBut would recommend to a friend

Excellent irrigation controller for residential use.
I purchased this unit to replace a much older Hunter irrigation controller that was extremely out of date.It took 5 minutes to install and connect to the system. The provided software and USB transfer device allows you to set your schedule(s), save them on your computer, and easily (painlessly) transfer them to the controller unit in seconds. In addition, you can print the schedules out for future reference. No more setting up schedules by turning knobs and pressing buttons numerous times on the actual controller.I also purchased and connected the rain sensor to prevent the system running during/shortly after a rain, and it works flawlessly.A lot of utility for the price, IMO...

The Toro sprinkler works as expected and if you lose power it keeps all your setups for five years no need for a battery backup. I have a 8 zone and I was able to use my old Toro timer modules they also sell Toro 53741 ECxtra 2-Zone Module clamshells
