Very good but can be better in some cases
After falling and doing some lovely damage to my pinky, I ordered these in hope that they would be better than the wrap splint available at the local pharmacy. They are well made and appear to be more durable than the wrap splint. There are built-in loops to hold the velcro straps in place, and the straps have a wider tab at the end to make it easier to grasp to undo them. With three sizes, the small was too small for my finger, not extending enough past the proximal interphalangeal joint in the middle of the finger, and it only included a single strap, so it didn't stay on well. The middle size offered promise, but it was a little too long. The ends are lightly rounded across the width and they appear to have been lightly ground or possibly sanded to reduce the rough edges. However, when in place, the end will still rub uncomfortably on the palm side. With two straps, the middle size stays on much better than the small one, but if your finger doesn't stay aligned with the hand, it has a tendency to push off against the palm when the finger moves forward with its buddies. That leaves room for improvement. Therefore, being an engineer and a handy-person, my solution was to modify the XHIVAR Finger Splint a bit. It's made of what looks to be aluminum and is necked down in the middle so it could be bent to fit at the top and bottom of the finger, so it was vert easy to straighten. The blue coating dimpled slightly as if it was going to flake off, but the coating has some elasticity to it so it held. Then, I gently placed the splint against my palm with my fingers bent forward at about 90 degrees to the palm and visually marked where the end of the finger hit the splint. Finding a tool with a shaft diameter roughly equal to the thickness of my finger, placed it on the splint and wrapped the splint around the shaft, leaving back of the splint longer than the front. In doing so, the paint coating resumed its original smooth surface texture and the extra length on the back causes no issues at all unless you're double jointed and like bending your fingers backward. When placed back on the injured finger, the modified splint now fit much better than before with minimal discomfort where it hits the palm unless you're trying close your fingers completely to form a fist. With the two velcro straps, including one above the joint, the splint stays on much better and offers much better support. If you get these and one's not exactly the right size, try this little modification and I think you'll agree that it's an improvement.I didn't try the large size, but it looks similar to the others. In conclusion, this is a good little device that serves its purpose well, but it can be modified fairly easily if needed. The only other thing I might mention is that it's not exactly easy to type a review (or anything else, for that matter) with the splint on your finger.

Trigger finger relief ...
I have a trigger finger on both hands. The pain and discomfort it was causing made me consider all kinds of remedies. This one was okay. I wore these at night only. But this was not a cure. So I went to hand doctor who gave me a shot of cortisone in my hand and put me in better carpal tunnel braces. Now that worked ... though I wouldn't watch him give me the shot. Too scary even if it didn't hurt.

Does the job.
I have a broken finger and it serves its purpose. However I only recieved two sizes instead of three. I got the size that I needed, but I can see how this would be a problem for someone who would want the missing size.

Great for broken finger
When I broke my finger this was great to have as a backup one to the one the doctor gave me. I also like how there was the smaller one to use as my finger started to walk (I only had broken the top part of my finger)

it does protect an arthritic finger without causing more pain
The positve is that it protects without causing pain, it has adjustable straps, once adjusted can be slipped on and off. Because I use it for the first joint of my indexfinger, I have to take it off to use the joint. For more on-going solutions that did not require taking it on and off, other straps to go arund the wrist or something to hold it onwould insure these did not slip around a bit or come off. I use it part time and it has helped doing some tasksthat were aggrevating my arthritic index finger.

Decent Splints
These are pretty simple, but effective for a sprained or broken finger. My daughter needed them a couple of times and they've worked fine. They aren't the most comfortable thing in the world, but kept the finger immobilized until it healed.
