I wanted a meter that was small, with good battery life and many features. This meter is a perfect small size, fitting comfortably in my hand. It uses two AAA batteries. With typical AAA batteries, the meter should have a 1000-hour battery life, less if you use the backlight. The inclusion of 9999 counts display is impressive for such a cheap meter. This meter is suitable for home use, when you don't require the input protection or certain features offered by larger, more expensive meters.There are no problems seeing the screen with normal viewing angles. Typically, I have the meter lying flat on a table, and the screen is perfectly visible like this. I don't use the built-in stand often, but the screen remains perfectly visible when the meter is standing up. If you hold the meter in your hand and tilt the top of the meter towards you, the screen becomes harder to see, while if you do the opposite (tilting the bottom of the meter towards you) the screen stays perfectly visible. Viewing is never a problem because I would never be tilting it like that anyways. The backlight is useful for viewing the screen in a dark or dimly lit environment. There is no option to keep the backlight on permanently. The backlight stays on for 2 minutes.It comes with two sets of test leads with 24-inch cable length. One set has typical cheap multimeter probes, and the other set has interchangeable tips on both ends of each cable. You could even use that set as jumper cables by attaching the four provided crocodile clips. The included probes are not gold-plated, so while they will work fine for all purposes, the continuity beep is slightly delayed. If continuity testing is important to you, you should get a set of gold-plated Probemaster probes which allow this multimeter to produce an instant continuity beep.The AN8008 and AN8009 are the latest models of this size. The AN8008 has square wave output, whereas the AN8009 has temperature sensing and non-contact voltage (NCV) sensing. You should choose between these two meters based on what features you want.There are some slightly larger models you may also want to consider. The ANENG AN113B has push buttons instead of a dial. The ANENG Q1 has push buttons and an inverse display. The ANENG AN9002 has more features such as bluetooth output, MIN/MAX and REL buttons. While the features offered by those meters are interesting, I ultimately decided on the ANENG AN8008 because I prefer its size.

I found this off a website ranking multimeters. It provides more value than its cost. I'm a little annoyed that it only comes in a pouch, not a carrying case, and that I have to remove 2 pieces of plastic per lead (one that keeps the pouch from ripping on tips!)

Junk! Turned on and tested when new. worked fine. been in drawer waiting for need. new batts. powered on, self test performed then "auto" dispalyed. But unable to get it to do anything. probes good.Junk

WARNING: there is a weird gap in the current measurement range, it goes from 0.1-1A directly down to 0.1-1mA! As a result, the 1 to 10 mA will have very low accuracy. 10 to 100mA is ok but not ideal. This is super weird because these are very common current ranges. So it can measure high currents and very low currents, but not the most common current range? WTF?! I'd rather sacrifice accuracy at the uA range than in the mA range!

Guess I should read ALL the description, but it ended up being smaller than I thought it would be (I'm used to full-sized meters). My bad. Had it been held in someone's hand it would have been obvious. Has a hard plastic case, no soft rubber-like shell. None of that is rally bad though. The important thing is it works great, has all the important functions, is compact, removable guards on the probe tips.... Haven't checked accuracy but more than satisfactory for anything I'll need. Good price for a nice meter.

Great little meter. 9999 counts and it reads much lower ohms that most other meters, the cheap ones as well as much better ones. I have better meters but this tiny little is generally what I reach for most often.One set of the Included leads are decent, but the other with screw-on banana plugs and interchangeable alligator clips as crap for anything more than jumper leads.Add a good lead set from ProbeMaster or the like and you have a terrific meter that can do most of what you need.
