The handle is bamboo and the spoon is made of FDA food grade silicone same as the base. Echelon bowls are made from environmentally friendly bamboo manufactured in Asia. They are naturally antibacterial and biodegradable. Asian bamboo is highly sustainable and their trees can fully mature in less than 5 years. To use, simply place the bowl on a clean flat surface. Slightly press the bowl downward until you feel the suction pressure. Give it a slight tug from side to side to make sure the bowl is secure. To remove, pull the release tab on the base upward. The bowl will easily detach from the surface.
