RATION BOOKS AND RABBIT PIES: FILMS FROM THE HOME FRONT (DVD) Continuing the BFI's exploration of Britain on Film, this fascinating collection brings together a selection of public information films, propaganda shorts and adverts from the Second World War, drawn from the BFI Archive all of which give essential advice to a nation in an age of austerity. A most fascinating time capsule of the Home Front during WW2
Bfi always makes the best documentaries using and restoring the finest archival materials available. This is no exception; here we have a number of PSAs for the British public broadcast in theaters and the like encouraging saving, conservation, exercise, the cultivation and maintenance of Victory gardens, etc. to further the British war effort during WW2. For those interested in this period of history, like me, this disc, although rather brief (some of the PSAs only run 2-3 minutes) is a fascinating and absorbing glimpse into a very interesting area of study: the Home Front and the sacrifices made by our British allies. Required viewing especially for the Millennial Generation! Enjoy...

I loved the concentrate orange drink
Interesting collection of short films. Hard to believe just a few years before I was born. Still rations when I was young. I loved the concentrate orange drink, but it did rot my teeth.
