Coda Ultra-Compact Personal in Ear Monitor Amplifier - Double Channel Headphone Amplifier System with XLR & TRS Input - Portable IEM Amp with Mono & Stereo Mix Panning - Sturdy Housing with Belt Clip

I'm always a little gunshy of gushing for electronic gadgets. Most work (if they're going to) right out of the box. The test is whether they hold up under use. My first impression of this unit is that it's durable and well built. I'm using it with earbuds for a solo acoustic guitar/ singer gig. I must admit the sound quality is very good, but I've never used IEM systems before so I have nothing to compare them to. I'll revisit this review if the unit craps out or fails to perform well after 6 months. But, so far so good and I'll never go back to floor monitors if I don't have to. It was a game changer for me.

I initially purchased a Behringer Powerplay P1 Personal In-ear Monitor Amplifier, however the Amazon listing didn't mention that it requires line-level XLR input, not mic-level XLR.I then tried the Behringer P2 Ultra-Compact Personal In-Ear Monitor Amplifier, but it had terrible static (just touching the XLR cable increased the static).I then tried both the Coda Music Tech Personal in-Ear Monitor System and the Rolls PM50se. The Coda is no slouch. It supports both a 9V battery and DC transformer (a transformer is included with the Rolls but not the Coda) and has two XLR inputs. However, the audio quality on the Rolls was much better than the Coda, the volume on the Coda was significantly lower (20% or 30% on the Rolls is similar to 100% on the Coda), the Rolls has a XLR pass through (which avoided the need for an XLR Y-splitter in my case), unlike the Rolls, the Coda had a LOUD pop when turning on the power.For my needs, the Rolls PM50se was clearly a better choice (granted, the Coda would have been my choice if I needed to mix two XLR inputs).

I'm very happy with this IEM. It works great and sounds great. Build quality is excellent and while I haven't had to change the battery yet it is very convenient to get to. I'd really like to clip this to a mic stand rather than my belt. So having an accessory for that would be really nice. Maybe there's a 3rd party option, I haven't looked.

I am always looking for affordable personal monitor options and this is one of the best I have found. Not only is it a great monitor, but the customer service is excellent. You won't be disappointed.

Great upgrade to our previous method of our sound engineer selectively punishing each of us from the sound board, and then pretending not to hear when we try to get his attention.These work, don't distort the through-put, and give you some control, like for when your lead singer refuses to turn down his on-stage amp because he just doesn't "feel" it even though your eardrums have already made an appointment with the sign language center.These work great, small form factor, so you can still dress slinky, and helps you keep your vocals in range because you're not getting blown out or straining to hear.SUPER AWESOME FIND here on Amazon and definitely recommend.

This unit is fantastic. It's reliable and I love the 9V battery option. Dual inputs have the hybrid 1/4" or XLR capability. Feature allows me to dial in what I'm looking for such as stereo vs mono, and balance left to right. This lets me tailor the sound around me to what's best for me and my singing and playing. It's really well built, solid, nothing cheap or plasticy about it. Very pleased period, and a super price. I definitely recommend this.

This is a fantastic headphone amplifier and I assume it’s based on the Cmoy circuit. I’m not sure what the op amp chips is. This is a fantastic amplifier but there are two things I really hate about it. One is the disgusting use of 9 V batteries. Who still does that. I still have a couple of electronic testing tools that use 9 V batteries much to my annoyance. I would be happy if I never have to buy another one of those waste fall short lasting terrible little things as long as I live. The decision to do that instead of to lithium is really terrible and I suspect the design is much older than it looks because nobody does that anymore. I’m guessing it really is a seamless circuit and they never bothered to attempt to adapt it to a newer power supply. Also the external power seems to use the non-standardcenter negative on the barrel connector which can be an annoyance to some of the most universal power supplies allow easy switching.The other thing I don’t like is the size this thing is three times bigger than it Hass to be but I suppose that’s because of the large size of the XLR inputs. I have several very fine headphone amplifiers that range from the size of a 9 V battery itself to a tin of Altoids. You don’t need to get much bigger but this thing is more of a desk top mount size then something you would carry around. And in that case I would use my little ttube amp for the warm sounding even harmonic distortion.The amp sounds fantastic but there’s really nothing about it that makes it worth dealing with the extra bulk and 9 V batteries so I will use this plugged into the wall and mount it somewhere. It’s a shame. The build quality is fantastic using a standard aluminum ribbed project case. It looks good made them quality components with a very nice volume knob and gives you a balance choice as well. No crossfeed which is disappointing. Any in the air monitor solution should have a crossfeed for a more natural sounding experience.I’m not willing to give it three stars but I think despite how wonderful it sounds and kind of deserves it.
