I purchased this portable drive on the basis that it has password protection but there is no reference to one and although it states it is a fast portable drive, I have yet to find out, and I’m now dubious to the true 4tb capacityAnd so I will fill it with as many files to find this out- sadly there are numerous storage devices stating high storage capacity for a cheap price which usually turn out to be very falseAnd so I strongly believe that you have to pay the money for a 4TB ssd drive and over £200 is reasonable - I hope I’m not disappointedUpdate - 8/5/25There is reference to Bit LockerI own two tb drives that have software on each drive to give password protection and this is the reason I why I mentioned earlier that this 4tb hard drive does not have the same

Great wee SSD ! 4TB of storage and fairly fast !

You only get one chance to prove yourself and this drive failed to load on day two on my Mac. Formatted in APFS, copied Final Cut timeline into it and the next day – nothing. Disk Utility showed it greyed out and Erase failed as did First Aid. So that's it for me. Actually, no it isn't because I'm still waiting for my refund 11 days later. I think they cynically hold your money to gain extra bank interest. That's the problem with Amazon – it's such a bloody rigmarole to get a refund and it takes bloody ages! Grrrrrrrr
