These plastic bags are thick and durable as stated. I bought them to replace some thinner bags I had for storing spices and other dry food items, that tore way too often. These bags don't seem likely to tear easily; the closure works a lot better, especially when some cocoa or spice gets in the way, it still works (bags with a weaker ziplock won't close unless completely clean, with no particles in the way, which is very impractical and causes them to reopen often, spilling their contents). The size is perfect for spice mixes. I've also used them for whole spices that can be sharp, such as star anise or nutmeg pieces, and the bags have handled this well, without tearing. The scent of the spices can be felt outside of the bags, so that my spice storage box has a mixture of scents, but none of the actual spices seem to be "contaminated"/infused with others when used. The bags thus isolate them sufficiently to be stored side by side. I'll definitely purchase these again when I run out :)
