Looks Promising
Having purchased a 3 storey property, I thought it would be best to cover the worse scenario should it occur and save trying to scale the outside walls freehand. The product is fairly weighty and comes in a cardboard box without a carry case.Although I’ve not test driven the ladder, from first impressions it appears very sturdy and the window hooks are quite easy to deploy without anything getting tangled.Just wish the product came with a nice visible carry case as well to make it easy to locate.

Good - but not perfect - more thought required from the manufacturer....
Like other reviewers I have (fortunately) not had to use this product in the event of a fire. It seemed a good buy at the price compared to others, and the ladder itself is of sturdy construction - but I can't give it 5 stars because of a few minor niggles. Firstly - out of the box - it loves to burst out of the flimsy holding strap and you have the fiddly task of trying to neatly restore the thing to some sort of order. The window sill hooks make a bid for freedom every time it's lifted as well. The box it comes in keeps it from self explosion - but in the event of a fire I would rather grab and go - than have to take time to remove it from the box. I'm thinking of purchasing another (stronger) velcro strap to go around it - hopefully quick to remove if the ladder is ever needed - and will make it easier to withdraw in one piece from the airing cupboard? Another reviewer also noted that the manufacturer recommends that this is not used to exit from a window that it above another window....but that describes every single window in my house?! The reason for this appears to be that each ladder rung has two metals bars sticking out a few inches - that keep the ladder away from the wall as you climb down. This makes perfect sense - and I understand that there would be a risk of these bars smashing through the window on a lower storey? To be honest - in the event of a fire I couldn't give a stuff if I smashed a lower storey window getting out - and I'll take my chances on the broken glass too....? Just a shame that this was not clearly pointed out in the product description.

Reusable - not a one use bit of kit like the others.
Sturdy and well made. If it's not used for evacuations it will be used for SHTF scenarios.

Ideal for loft extension as precaution
Arrived promptly. Very heavy (which you would want it to be). Have not tested it yet out of loft window, but have had it out the box and all looked fine. (Hoping we never need to use it, just having it in the loft for peace of mind).

thank goodness we've not needed it!
open the box carefully whne it arrives so you can use it for storing the ladders. Long and easy to unfold. We've not needed them I'm delighted to say, but we keep ours below the window in our loft extentension and I'm very glad to have them.

First Alert 3 Storey Escape Ladder, EL53W-2
If you live on the first or second floor of a Flat or House, recommend you buy one, also practice fire escape drill out of more than one window, as the fire maybe below the window, you hope to escape from, so a opposite window is essential, so you can act quickly.

... hope never to have to use this ladder and like many have bought it just in case and it ...
Having a 3 storey house with fire escape routes on ground and 1st floor and protected by fire doors and interlinked fire alarm I hope never to have to use this ladder and like many have bought it just in case and it is certainly better than having nothing on the top floor. The ladder is very well made and looks sturdy and adds extra peace of mind. However it is heavy and would require a reasonably fit adult to deploy it.Like others after testing I found it a mammoth task to refold it and get it back in the box.I will keep the ladder as an extra layer of protection but hopefully will never need it.

Excellent for emergencies or doomsday
Compact, strong. Easy to use excellent grappling abilities. We have a 15 ft wall behind our enclosed CBS block back yard. Fire, civil disturbance, martial law by demorats, etc it works great for escape. Folds back up to reuse.

Muy funcional
Es una escalera muy fuerte, estable y con buen agarre. Es un poco estrecha si la quieres usar cómo una escalera fija pero también es funcional por el buen agarre qué está tiene.

What price would you pay for the safety of yourself and your family?
I have been researching good reviews for ease of use on portable fire escape ladders. This is by far the sturdiest out of all of them. Looking at videos during non-emergency setup and escape, this is also the easiest to remember on how to setup. So I decided to buy this one since we live on a 3rd story apartment and you really can't put a price on the safety of your family. I keep this open and ready by the window along with our Bug-out bag incase of emergencies, Teaching myself and wife on how to use it will keep ourselves ready in case unforeseen emergencies do happen.P.S.I rated the easy to fold a 1 star since this item is a one time use,you cannot open the ladder and expect it to work again same as beforesince it is folded in away that will deploy quickly and easily.

Feuerleiter in der Not
