Decent read
I’m the son of a Donegal miner and I’m always interested in accounts from bygone eras. I enjoyed it

A rather limited view of tunnelling in the hydro schemes
Not very informative and was rather limited in its scope, therefore would not reccommend this book for anyone seeking any breadth of information on the development of the hard rock tunnelling brigades.

A Personal Account
This is a personal account of one man's experiences on one or maybe two individual projects, and in no way pretends to be a history of the Hydro Board ("The Dam Builders" is a good history of the board in the product links), or even of the whole of the specific projects he worked on. If you want a project history, look elsewhere. What you are getting is a hugely readable account of what day to day life for a worker on a major civil engineering project in Scotland in the 1950s was like.

Campbell tells it like it was - dust, grime and danger as well as real camaraderie
The tunnel tigers who built those hydro tunnels deserve to be remembered -- Campbell lived among them and his story is an important social document.

Tunnel Tigers
I am interested in the history of the huge hydro electric electric construction schemes in Scotland in the 50's.This book relates the experiences of one man in the construction of one scheme. Interesting enough, but I was looking for an overview and history of all the schemes.

great read
Enjoyed this book as my grandfather and his brothers were the Campbells from Dungloe. I knew they worked in Scotland and were away most of the time. The stories retold by Patrick Campbell were similar to ones I've heard from family.
