Purchased to go with a digital microscope that has it's own light source. The microscope's LEDs are close to the lens and produce glare on any shiny surface. This spaces many more LEDs away from the lens and produces even lighting with far less glare.I use at 25-35% power for the microscope. Haven't tried on my DSLR camera, but imagine it has plenty of light for a room shot. The aperture is smaller than a typical camera ring light, so be sure to check the diameter of the lens against the light's specs.

I have this attached slightly above the lens of the LinkMIcro LM249MS digital microscope. It works great. The only issue I have with it which is unavoidable is when viewing objects in clear plastic vials/containers, the LEDs reflect off the plastic and interferes with the image. The adjustable brightness works well. Very happy with this purchase.

It is a perfect fit for my binocular microscope. Great brightness level, easy to install, all around. Happy with my purchase.
