Great edition of A Christmas Carol
A Christmas Carol is a absolute classic (which needs no introductions). This edition is the Oxford Essential Student Texts edition. This is a ideal copy for students studying this for English.A big plus about this edition is there an handy notes to the end of the book which explores the context of the text. There is a handy plot overview, then there is notes exploring the characters, writing structure, language and themes. This gives ideal context for students for there studies. There are a number of version of this novel available, although slightly more expensive than other editions available it is worth the extra cost as the quality is excellent, the book uses good quality paper (unlike other editions which use very thin/bible like paper) and has clear font size/layout for easy reading.Although designed for students this is a great addition for anyone wanting to read this classic novel.Would diffidently be purchase other classic novels in this range.Would highly recommend

Underwhelming
The only good thing about this is that it is small enough to fit easily into a small bag - so in this sense it is a handy guide. However, other than the text, you only get nine pages of analysis!! The plot overview is allocated just over a page; The context section is better, covering publication, Christmas and poverty & wealth over three pages. Structure gets another two pages, with a fair comparison between the tale and a musical carol. The most interesting part of this story should be the characters, yet this gets only two pages: come on - this barely dents the surface. The study section finishes up with a short discussion of language and themes. Personally, I'd rather the students went for York notes or CGS. This really is not worthy of Oxford University Press.

The text plus some background notes!
This seminal work by Dickens is presented in this low cost paperback with a range of extras. With a plot overview, notes on the structure, characters, language and themes of the story, this has a lot of ideas to grab your child and help them think about the passage in a way that GCSE markers will want to see. I would expect to see this with a number of underlines or some highlighter pen so that the student can be seen to have engaged with the text. This is simply great value and should be bought for your child as soon as you know that they are going to be studying this for GCSE English. Very good value!

Excellent for students
This book is a good A5 size. Words in this book were spaced out nicely, so the text was easy to read. In the last section of the book, there are notes on the story including plot overview, context, structure, characters, language and themes. I started reading this section first. This section set the scenes for me with background information before I moved onto the main body of the book. It helps me to appreciate this classic story more with a better understanding. This book is excellent for students who are studying English literature as a subject. I would recommend it to you
