Excellent Japanese whetstone
This is a very good Japanese whetstone. Being a 1000 grit medium stone it's good to maintain a sharp edge to a kitchen knife. It's a good size which is typical of "professional" stones. Often substandard and cheaper stones are much smaller than this one. It's also good value compared to Shapton or Naniwa which are often double the price of King. The whetstone will need soaking in water for a few minutes before use and let it dry thoroughly before storage.

Great stone
I decided to buy this stone as opposed to the dual stone, thinking it would last longer... In don't need the thinner grit for my knives to get the perfect polish. I have a sharpening steel to finish the knives off. Works a treat for my uses.

great sharpening stone.
Great product works well and with a little practice you can even manage to get an edge on your knifes so sharp you can shave hairs of your arm. You can go sharper and get higher grit stones but its not necessary. Definitely worth the money and I would recommend to anyone that's looking for a stone to sharpen their knifes.

perfect sharpening stone
I thought I have to buy new knives as they became really blunt, but no!! This amazing sharpening stone was the only thing that I needed. I sharpen my knives yesterday after watching some youtube videos for the first time and wow!!! My knife blade is like brand new now. So satisfying!

This is a good size grit for general plane iron/chisel sharpening.

Great stone
I love using this stone. It's absolutely solid, wears down slowly, feels great to use and I've managed to get a good edge on all my knives with it.I have a few cheaper stones and this one is in a completely different league. Very happy with this.The first one arrived from Japan with a large chunk of the corner broken off - the seller was great when I emailed him and send me a replacement with a comedy amount of bubble wrap and protective packaging, which arrived in perfect condition.
