Another great book from Hattie Jacks. The start of a new series featuring different species of aliens but with occasional reference to species which we met in the Gryn. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and already have book 2 on pre-order, can't wait!!😸

Loved reading Taborr and Carla's story. This is the first book I have read and absolutely love it!! I particularly like that Carla was feisty and courageous. And Taborr is exactly the same as well as a gentleman... Well loosely . No wonder Carla fell for him. Imagining to read the next book in the series...

I have enjoyed all of Hattie Jacks books and this one did not disappoint. I enjoyed meeting some new alien species and can’t wait for the next one.

This is a new author for me, I love a good sci-fi read and this was really good, ticked all my boxes with hot protective alien, this one is a little broken, and a strong feisty female character with a caring soul.Carla has been kidnapped from Earth and held hostage by the Liderc, who feed off emotions. They don't like her as they are unable to feed from her for some reason, and so she is offered up as a prize in an arena fight - this is where she meets Lord Taborr.Taborr is on his own, his crew has been captured and he has been looking for them. He saves Carla and takes her back to his palace. He feels drawn to her as he would a mate, but thinks that is impossible with her being a different species, and so tries his best to keep his distance. Of course, the attraction between them is just explosive and he cannot stay away from her for long.This was a fabulous read, I loved Taborr and how descriptive the author was of him, his skin changing colour along with his eyes, his wonderful horns and other appendiges! He's protective and fierce, caring and loving, loyal to his people and wanting to save his crew, yet he has been alone for a long time and is a little broken in that respect. He is frightened to claim his mate with her being a different species, but knows without a doubt that she is his.Carla loves to try and fix broken things, so Taborr called to her, but in more ways that one, this alien was like a ridiculously hot Viking, eyes emotions playing through his eye colourings. She found it very hard to stay away from him, there are some hot smoking scenes with these two, but she couldn't understand why he wouldn't claim her, thinking herself as just a plaything until he found his own people.The first book in a new series so there is plenty of world building going, which was great and very detailed. A brilliant read which kept me hooked from the start and kept those pages turning. Can't wait to read more of this.

I loved the world that this was set in. The world building was great and it just sucked you into the tale before you even realised.Carla was fantastic. She had a strength and determination to do good and not let anything take that away, no matter how hard or dangerous it was for her. She had an integrity that was completely admirable. For his part Taborr holds himself to his own kind of honour code. He would do all he can until he has located all of his fellow warriors. His loyalty and care for them and his people is paramount to him. That is until the reaslisation dawns that he might have a mate and she is not of his own species, which he had never expected. The growth of their emotional relationship is somewhat slower than that of their physical one but you do get to see how they balance one another and each provide a haven to the other.Wonderful and I cannot wait to read more!

I thought this was a good story. Full of action, emotions that we would have in those situations. Full of love, and good dialogue between everyone. I liked this story.

When I came across this book I thought to give it a go. And damn was it the best thing I’d done all week. If you love action packed, decent world building, kinky Alien se$ and an actual good storyline then I cannot recommend this book highly enough.Having read a number of other alien romances they often lack a decent story line. Not this one though. This author should be so proud of what she’s written I honestly loved this. And if you are on the fence about whether you should read it or not. READ IT!Can’t wait to see the rest of the series come to life. Hats off to the author please keep it coming.

3 1/2 stars. The pacing was good and the characters likeable. Typical plot for its fare. My biggest problem was with all the contradictions. In the middle, Carla turns insecure, which is contradictory to how she's been thus far. It didn't add to the plot, story, or her growth and felt inauthentic. Also, she's been all about helping him get his planet back, then she was like, when were you going to tell me about your plans to get your planet back, then guess what, getting the planet back. Book was full of repetitive affirmations to build the relationship rather than experiences, discoveries, and emotion. Still, it had good bones and moved along nicely.

The world building was pretty good and so were the characters. I’m not quite sure what was missing for me, but I kept being confused over the main characters thoughts - like does he want to mate her or not? Not sure if I’m going to try the next in the series, but probably not.

Carla and Taborr are truly a match made in the stars. They each tame the other the best they can and easily be ready for whatever the other wants.Thoroughly enjoyed this series. I'll definitely be reading all the books.
