Used and Abused but still cutting tube!

The powers that be wanted to convert all of the four leg chairs to caster rollers so that nobody had to lift and carry a chair. I went to work looking for a good pipe cutter for an affordable price to chop down all the 1" round, 14g steel tubing legs so that the addition of the casters wouldn't raise the chair up too high to be comforatble.A General #120 was sacrificed to the tubing gods in just under two tubes cut and decided to go walk-about on the tube after the wheel chipped.A generic tubing cutter was than sacrificed to the tubing gods shortly after the General surrendered, it made a good four tubes before the cutter wheel bent and stalled in the groove.Sigh...I love WISS, I have a box full of shears, some 50 years old and still cur well. I saw this on Amazon and decided that for $12.00, I could take a chance on a plastic body tube cutter. I have several chairs done now and all with the original blade still intact and going strong.Mind you, this was NEVER intended for the abuse I am giving this tool, in fact, I purchased 2 of these since I thought that I would go through the wheels like potato chips but no, they last and last. The plastic body seems to be strong and holds together well, the ratchet seems to be doing a good job and still clicks robustly when rotated.Be careful to keep it straight when cutting, the plastic is flexible and can move when bearing down.

Works fine

I thought this was a neat idea when I first got it, and it does have it's place, but if I have room I would rather use a normal cutter. It can be more difficult to tighten the cutting wheel on this, because the knob is a bit small. However there are times where a regular large cutter won't swing around and this works good. I still think I would rather use a small cutter. I think it would spin around most pipes that this will. It hasn't broken or anything like that. It seems to be built well, I just view it as more of a novelty item. :)

Works well but slower than manual cutter

It does not seem to have enough pressure to cut very quickly. It works well, it just takes a few minutes to cut the copper pipe. I will use it. For anyone with arthritic fingers or sore fingers, it may be just right.

Okay for occasional use.

I was really hoping for something better. Just has a cheap feel to it. I guess you get what you pay for, in this case you do . I regret this purchase but some folks may feel this is just what they wanted.

Wiss Ratcheting Pipe Cutter -- Two Different Sizes - Bundled Order

The two pipe cutters arrived in perfect shape, excellently packed. I tested each one on copper pipe -- it cut the scrap samples perfectly and quickly. I loved the ratcheting action -- I expect this will ease access in tight spots and enable the use of this pipe cutter where the only access previously would be with a miniature hack saw. Great tools! Flimsy

Too bulky to get into tight spots which is why you buy this tool in the first place. You get what you pay for and this was one of the cheapest from this type of design. Spend the extra $$$ if you will be using this professionally.

It was fine for a while

I made about 30 cuts of 1-inch thin wall (0.125 inch) aluminum tube before the cutting wheel bent and no longer stays in the groove.
