Q: Is there a limit on the number of devices that can pair?

One question but let me offer two answers.1. Connections: it will support two connections at any one time - one active (playing) and one standby (paused). Pressing Play on the standby device will automatically move the active device to standby.2. Pairings: I have three devices (two phones and a laptop) paired with mine. I don't need to repeat the pairing process (i.e. press the blue button on the Logitech) when I bring one back into the room, but I sometimes have to reconnect in the Windows Bluetooth menu or the iPhone Settings panel before my music apps see it as available.

The unit receives the Bluetooth signal from your device, such as a phone or iPad, the unit is in turn wired to your amplifier / received with twin phono connectors (sometimes referred to as RCA connectors). You plug the phono connects into a spare input on your amplifier/receiver, such as CD or AUX. Your non powered speakers are wired to the amp/receiver using the normal wiring. This will then play in stereo from your phone or iPad. If your speakers are passive you will still need them to be wired to an amp. The unit simply receives and re-transmits the Bluetooth signal. It is great for using with older amps which are not capable in themselves of receiving a Bluetooth signal. I have been very pleased with my unit.I hope this is of some assistance.Best wishesSteve H

There is no on switch but it will sit at low power until a paired device connects to it.

Q: Does this device have a dac built in?

DAC stands for Digital to Analogue Converter. It takes a digital Bluetooth signal and it spits out and analogue audio signal. By the very nature of what this device does, it is a digital to analogue converter.
