Wiggle it, just a little bit!
This mini jointed arm represents ridiculously good value for money if you keep in mind the silly cheap price. I paid less than eleven pounds and I'm happy but would consider over twenty to be my limit. Some users have complained that the arm loses strength or moves but in my case at least, it's easy to lock up solidly by feeling the joints seat themselves as you tighten the main knob carefully.Removal of the knob, washer and separation of the centre toothed joint will reveal a pressure disc or plate that has an angled edge which must be aligned with the internal rod end during assembly to work properly and you need to seat the opposing joint teeth or ring gears as you tighten as they can fail to engage fully and then slip when the arm is put under load, since being die cast aluminium, the teeth are not sharply defined or hard enough to prevent flattening of the tips if mashed together and it is possible to cinch the knob down with the tips of the teeth against one another without fully engaging, leading to slippage and wear.Basically, tighten the knob slowly once you've set the desired elbow angle and gently pull and push the two arms once the teeth touch, taking up any backlash as you go, including giving the end ball joints a wiggle to seat them also before fully cranking down on the knob but not so hard as to split it. Mine locks up very solidly with a firm twist and I normally overtighten things. Your results may differ as 'tight enough' is very subjective. It doesn't help that the pillow balls aren't perfectly round and they can feel tight in one position but be loosened with slight movement which is the only real issue in terms of quality but once seated properly they lock up very solidly, as does the main joint. They just might not be precisely in your preferred position without some trial and error. If you really do want the very best quality available and are prepared to pay for it, look for Noga products, which make similar articulated arms for engineer's dial test indicators, cutting fluid coolant hoses and GoPro cameras etc. which will make you appreciate just how great this cheap arm is for the money. The Nogas are made of hardened steel and are precision ground for smooth and precise movement with only a slight loosening of the knob/s, locking rigidly with little effort or fear of damage. So unless you have a genuinely defective or poorly assembled item you simply cannot complain about this mount in my opinion. Just take the time to play with it and to understand how it works, seat the joints firmly as you tighten in stages and don't expect it to hold much more than an action camera or microphone, although mine feels like it could. I wouldn't recommend this arm for use where vibration could be present such as on mountain bike handlebars or a car bumper but if the position is not going to change once adjusted, you could use a threadlocking or epoxy adhesive in the ball joints.

Great once secure, not the best quality.
Decent if a little on the flimsy side, unless you slightly over tighten the dial.Bought two of these arms, to accommodate my Atomos Ninja II recorders, via the clamp (supplied) attached to two separate tripod legs.I found the clamp to be of a nice quality, albeit the included grip stickers inside the clamp, have come away a little, but are secure, and the inclusion of a hot shoe mount attached, although for my usage, I removed them both, and stored them.Given the light weight of the Atomos Recorders, even with a heavy duty battery and SSD Drive attached, I found it initially worrying how difficult it was to try and secure them at an angle on the arm, that I was happy with. I eventually decided to mount the arm very much vertical, in line with the main post, with only the end section setup horizontally, to allow for minimum strain on the articulating arm. This works great once in place, although I'm still not wholly sold on the overall sturdiness of the item, but for now, it's working fine in my Home Studio.

prit stick and a pipe cleaner would be more use
I purchased these to hold a Mic and Handheld recorder while filming YouTube videos on my own.I attached it to my tripod, The super clamp on itself works ok. The magic arm is complete rubbish, The Mic I was connecting to it weights 161g under 10% of the claimed weight it can carry. No matter how tight I did the arm up it would slowly move, and the mic would tilt down.I tried the other one with a zoom h5 recorder (170g) and done the same. The arms are completely useless lucky I had a spare Manfrotto arm which luckily took the weight of both items.I kept the super clamps as they worked ok and just binned the arms. I had completely forgotten I wasted money on these until the sent me a reminder to leave a review. SO wanted to warn everyone how bad they are.A buy cheap buy twice situation

Great arms for a simple setup
Great little product. Watch out though, if you unscrew the main control know the whole thing falls apart. hahahaha

A bit feeble but good value, fine for occasional use
Assembly is unintuitive, you have to remove one part to fit the clamp. No instructions. As others have said, the ball and socket joints are inadequate, and achieving a stable position is a bit challenging. Provided you can accomplish that, it seems to do the job. I doubt the joints will last very long, but it's fine for occasional use and there's not much else like it at the price.

Nice and versatile, using it with the logitech c930e
Does what it says. Lubrication for the ball joints is a decent idea. Make sure to be gentle with it and hold on to the attached device before loosening the knob. Moves smoothly from all articulations while the knob is loose but trying to move it with the knob tight might stress the inner mechanism and chip the powder coat.

Terrible ball joints
On unboxing, product seemed good. Parts can be attached / removed as needed (e.g. clamp, screw thred adapters). Unfortunately, the ball joints are not good. They seem to either be far too tight, or way too loose depending on position. Item returned.

Good arm, failed after a few months,
Dont judge based on my review as I used this to death. Articulation points started to go after a while and wouldn't hold any weight. Like I said though, this got used a LOT. Great product.
