I bought this as my daughter wanted to prepare her own strawberries and at 6 year's old I'm not prepared to let her use sharp knives as her having all her fingers intact is important in my view, yes using a knife is as easy or even easier just letting kid's do things like this independantly (with supervision) gives them a sense of achievement plus it encorages my daughter to eat more fruit when she has prepared it herself which in my opinion can't be a bad thing.The blades are sharp so she was completely supervised whilst using this little gadget, she also has a huller which compliments the slicer for her to be able to do it herself.It comes in a blister pack so you will need scissors to access it.Is made from a strong see through red plastic that has non slip dots securely attached to the base.The blades are imbedded into the lid and are nice and solid.She hulled her strawberries then placed them into the base one by one and gently pushed down the lid, I then removed them for her so she didn't touch the blade and they were nice and evenly sliced, I had a very happy girl with the fact she 'did it herself'.

It slices the strawberry but the pieces are then really too thin. It great if you just want a small piece to useas decoration on a cup cake or something. Very simple to use. Good product

It does not really slice ... the blades are not sharp enough I imagine

I bought more than one of these. Very handy when preparing a Fruit Salad..

tis was a great thing till my other half dropped it and it came apart and now cant fit it back together
