Fun for Doctor Who Fans
What Doctor Who fan could resist one of these little books in the popular Mr. Men style of Roger Hargreaves? OK, the idea could have been a disaster but, fortunately, they turned out pretty well. They are small with cute stories and attractive artwork. The first volume takes a look at the first Doctor. He is crotchety and clever, travelling with his granddaughter Susan to 1960’s Earth. There he runs into the Cybermen, whom he takes care of pretty handily with the help of a transistor radio. To a dedicated fan, the Cybermen are kind of an odd choice for enemy here since the first Doctor did not meet them until his last adventure before regenerating into the second Doctor. The Daleks might have been a better choice. Still, the story is fun and gets the tone right. No Doctor Who fan, young or old, should be without.

Dr. Who and the cybermen
Our family loves Dr. Who. We also love the Mr. Men and Little Miss books. This book is a great book for our collection. The story is a reflection of the episodes of the First Dr. Who and the cybermen.

One day, I shall come back...
...and I did. This review is actually for a second copy that I purchased. I enjoyed the mashup so much, I had to purchase another so I'd have one to give away, and give away One I did.

Doctor Who?
It's the Doctor and my childhood. Enough said.

Stick with the Mr. and Mrs. books
This series (at least not this book, as it's the only one I own) just doesn't have the same fun that the Mr./Mrs. books do...and I have plenty of them. I don't think I'll buy Dr. Second.

Wow!
I was delighted, simply delighted, to find a series of Mister Men Doctor Who books. What a wonderful idea! How nice it is to share the Doctor Who random with your young children and students in class.I've enjoyed several of them so far, and although not all of them have perfect plotlines, they are very good. I also love how accurately they depict the different doctors and their companions. They are made with love and humour, and I can highly recommend them. This particular book, Doctor First, is one of the best I've read so far. The Doctor is delightfully grumpy and clever, which pretty much sums up the character portrayed by William Hartnell. A delightful book. I'm glad I bought it!

Fun, different, and very Doctor Who...
These Mr. Men books with the Doctors are just adorable. The artwork inside is pure Mister-Men. The text on the left page is brilliant too, and reflects the original style of the Mr. Men books. I thought that in this book their portrayal of the doctor was irritated and surly... It wasn't until recently that I watched some William Hartnell Doctor Who again, and realised he WAS surly and irritated! The characterisation is really well done, and the conversion to Mr.Men style works brilliantly, in the same way Star Wars works well in Lego :)I loved this book, and when I read it to my 3-year-old, she loved it too, demanding I read Dr. Fourth and Dr. Twelfth as well before sleepy time.

Moffatt himself could have written this revisionist filth
This may be a simplistic children's book, but it is clearly written by someone who has never bothered to watch the programme they're adapting. The 1st Doctor's defining characteristic is being relentlessly grumpy - apparently. Complete rubbish. I tried audibly editing the book whilst reading to my children but eventually threw it down in disgust. This is an insult to Roger Hargreaves creation and Doctor Who. I decided to write & illustrate my own version for the kids that isn't a lazy inaccurate insult to William Hartnell's memory.

Love it
It's such a long time since I've ventured into the world of the Mr Men, but I'm glad I did. This is excellent. The story itself isn't brilliant, but to be fair there aren't that many pages for it to be so. The way it's written you can hear William Hartnell, and isn't that what any book is supposed to achieve. I'll read more, and so should you dear reader

Captures William Hartnell's Doctor perfectly
Though read cover to cover in a minute or two, this little book carried the feeling of those first Hartnell episodes so well that it stirred all manner of warm and fuzzy memories of watching them with my mother when I was a very, very small child.Doctor Who nostalgia, Mr Men nostalgia and some smile-worthy whimsy. Definitely worth it for the feelings.
