XBOOM Mini Portable Capsule Speaker with Rechargeable Battery and Enhanced Bass+ Resonator - Green

 This is a great speaker system for mobile phones, PC's, laptops, gaming systems, tablets, mp3 music players and MP4 video players. You get HIFI quality sound out of a small handful of speaker. The speaker uses a bass expansion system with a sound resonator that enhances the quality of the sound and of the bass.The unit features a lithium battery that is rechargeable and it takes 2 hours to charge it and you can play music for 12 hours on one charge. On the bottom of the speaker you will find a 3.5 mm audio plug cable that allows you to link speakers together or plug the speaker into your audio source. The unit comes with a carrying bag, a charging/audio cable and a brief instruction manual. You can charge the speaker with your PC or with any USB AC wall adapter you have that outputs 5 VDC. The charging portion of the cable is 8 ½ inches long and the audio cable is 26 ½ inches long. It is a combination Y cable. (See the video) When the speaker is charging the LED on the bottom is red and when the speaker is fully charged the LED is blue.The speaker closes for portability and locks into a small package. Make sure to open it when you want to play music. On the speaker you will find an on/off switch, a charging/audio input port, a volume control dial and an audio input jack. The volume of the speaker is controlled by a combination of the volume settings on the speaker itself and the volume settings on your audio source.The speaker is very light weight at 2 7/8 ounces and it is very portable. It is ideal to take to the patio, pool, on vacation, on a business trip, to a party, or in the kitchen just to listen to your music, audio book, movie or your pod casts. This is a good product and I rate it at 5 stars.I was supplied a sample for test and evaluation and I promised to provide a fair and honest review.

This product did not work. It came with a small initial charge and worked briefly. When I went to plug it into my computer to charge it did 2 things. One, it did not charge. The indicator light did not turn on. Second, it started to smoke. I kid you not. I unplugged it immediately. Tried to turn it on again and nothing. Complete waste. I returned it immediately. Buy at your own risk.

For XMAS, a perfect stocking stuffer. For anytime, a truly excellent speaker for the inexpensive price you are paying for it. I wasn't quite sure what to expect from it when it arrived, but, after living with it for a week I have been very pleasantly surprised by both its build and sound quality.The XBoom Mini Portable Capsule Speaker is designed to attach to your iPad,cell phone, or any tablet or device to play whatever music you might be in the mood for. The speaker comes with all the cables you might need and allows you to attach one speaker to another, should you purchase more than one, for a more immersive spread of music. Because two speakers would be used in parallel you would not get a stereo mix but would certainly be able to spread the sound for a wider acoustic field.The XBoom Mini Portable Capsule Speaker, when closed and not in use, will easily fit into anyone's pocket for easy transport. Setting the speaker up is very intuitive in design and use. It came fully charged last week and even though I have been playing it for several hours each day, have still not had to recharge the speaker. When I do, cables to charge it from your laptop or home computer are included. The brief but thorough owner's manual state that it takes two hours to charge but since I have not had to as yet, I can't confirm this. A blue LED light on the bottom of the speaker indicates that the speaker is charged and once it turns yellow it lets you know that it needs a recharge. Additionally, the XBoom speaker comes with the connecting cable that neatly fits into a groove at the bottom of the speaker that will connect to your audio source. When opened, the upward firing speaker reproduces audio without any baffling to muffle the sound.So, the most important question here should be about the quality of the sound. I was outside on the patio listening to it with my morning coffee and newspaper. My wife came outside and asked 'What are you listening to? It sounds great. I want one." That is about the most unbiased statement I can offer. She loved it. I am quite a bit more discerning that she however. After listening for an extended period of time playing everything from rock to jazz to classical and audiophile recordings over the course of a week, I have come to the conclusion that this speaker, unlike many imitators I have heard, is underpriced. The volume you can achieve is significant though not earth shaking. The quality of the audio is just about the best I have heard from any speaker in this price and category genre. Its' little 40mm, 3 watt speaker produces a pretty high volume when set to high with the volume wheel. I do not like to set any volume setting to full high as that can overdrive the unit and produce distortion. Distortion is usually what causes a speaker of any system to blow. So, with the volume backed off a touch, I found the audio to be crisp and clean.With a frequency response of 280Hz to 16 Khz it would be unreasonable to expect much low end bass and it doesn't, however since most recorded music really lies in the mid range of the frequency response, you do get some very decent audio production and at pretty darn good volumes.It is rare that you get as much value with any electronics as you do with the XBoom Mini Portable Speaker. (I started this review an hour ago but a friend came by and as we were talking the XBoom Speaker was playing some nice blues. My friend was startled that such a tiny speaker could produce such audio quality and said that he wanted one. He will have to wait till Xmas as will my wife. )I'm keeping mine for me alone.12/1/13 Update....Speaker finally drained and needed to be recharged. I did not see a change in the light but I wasn't looking either. It just stopped playing....No problems at all...it took a little over 2 hours to recharge and I'm back to listening. I do wish the small cable that comes attached to the speaker was a bit longer but it is short so that it can be fitted into the groove on the bottom for travel purposes.I do hope this review has been of some help to you in deciding your purchase.

When I first received this speaker, I was upset to find that it didn't work properly (issues with charging then it stopped working all together). I emailed the company (E Depot Express; I found their email for customer support included in the packaging). The replied in 5 minutes (NO JOKE! 5 MINUTES!) and immediately told me that they would send me another one free of charge (free shipping as well). I received the new one in two days and it works perfectly!!! The first one just had some sort of defect, which happens because no one and nothing is perfect all the time. I just went on a road trip and we used the speaker for playing music in the car. I started with it fully charged and after 18.5 hours of driving (playing music the whole time) I didn't have to charge it ONCE! In fact, a few days after completing the road trip, I still haven't charged it. Amazing battery life and the sound is fantastic! I recommend getting a wall USB charger (or just use one you probably already have) because it doesn't come with one. It should also be noted that if you want a longer charging cable, it is a very common end (don't know what it's called, the other end that's not USB). For example, I use my kindle cord for charging it because it fits and it's longer than the one the speakers come with, and many of my other cords also fit it.
