This LIVES in my backpack now

I own a Steam Deck as my primary dedicated gaming handheld, but it's big. It's heavy. It's expensive. The battery life is, at BEST, "meh". There's plenty of reasons I may not want to take it along. The original Razer Kishi never quite lived up to its promise. It was comfy, light, compact, and had great sticks and buttons, but it wasn't so much a "Mobile Game Controller" as a "Xbox GamePass Cloud Controller that supported a few other games and apps".This largely solves that issue. It isn't as compact, but it's not notably heavier in the hand, offers a similarly comfy grip, and the buttons are still very nice. The triggers are improved. There's remappable secondary shoulder buttons! And this time the controller has compatibility with TONS of mobile games, and can be made to work with even more with the new App's controller mapping suite. With this, mobile games don't suck to play. I can game on the go with comfort.

Turn your phone into an emulator powerhouse (Updated)

EDIT: I've had the Kishi V2 for a while now and have talked some of my friends into getting it as well — it's a solid unit and one of the best on the market. I stand by my initial 5 stars, and have since been able to try out the touch emulation. Zero complaints. I've come to appreciate its subdued appearance, Razer products have a tendency to be really flashy and garish.I know the GameCube came out 20 years ago at this point, but it continues to be quite surreal being able to play GameCube games on the go on a general-purpose device, with physical controls!Original review follows, with some edits based on my experience:I have a hackable Switch, but chose to try this out after being extremely disappointed with the Switch's performance as an emulation system — late N64 releases barely run, and don't even think about playing GameCube games. The Kishi perfectly fits my Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro 5G out of the box (a phone too big for the Kishi V1, which has hardware about twice as good as a Switch). Buttons feel good, not mushy, and the sticks are good. Triggers feel nice, and the analog support is always nice to have (Looking at you, Nintendo.). The four auxillary buttons are in kind of weird places, but it works.Tightly grips the phone, and the slight curve to the grips is much more comfortable than holding the phone itself, or even Switch Joy-Con. Build quality feels solid; it flexes a little bit when fully extended, but that's not a position you'll ever have it in except when putting the phone in.The Razer Nexus app is a little weird and not terribly useful, but it runs under microG and doesn't require an internet connection. The touch control emulation works great in the few apps I've tried it in, but it's necessarily a pretty subpar experience. I didn't keep playing games that required it, native controller support is the way to go. Verify that the games you want to play support controllers before purchasing!Works perfectly in RetroArch, Lemuroid, and Dolphin — also works to navigate Android itself. Waiting (im)patiently for Yuzu controller support to report on that.I got this on a Warehouse deal for ~$60. Its normal $100 asking price is a bit steep, but it's not too bad compared to its competitors and for what you get.

Now working on iPhone 15

This controller works decently. The mapping stuff in Nexus is awkward to use, though. Sometimes game input just doesn't work properly and I have had to disconnect and reconnect the controller to get it to work. Some of the buttons are particularly noisy. Strangely, the ABXY buttons are fine, but the rest of the buttons on the face are quite noisy. This is weird to me because those buttons have a very firm tactile response, which I would think would be better for the ABXY buttons, but those are not very precise feeling. It just seems like a weird design choice to me.The upside to the Nexus app being only ok is that you don't have to pay extra for it. Some competitors make a freemium app for access to the same features, so good on Razer for including it with the hardware purchase.Razer released a new version that explicitly supports iPhone 15, but they also updated the firmware on this, and it is working fine with USB-C iPhones as well as Android devices now.

Life changing

I bought this to remote play my home consoles (Xbox Series X and PS5) and it’s been a pleasure to use it thus far. My only complaint is that the Nexus app home button of the controller can’t be remapped to use as home button to the before mentioned consoles; but it’s still a good experience. I never owned the previous version of the Razer Kishi so I can’t comment on the quality of the analogue sticks compared to these ones, but I can’t complain. They’re placed comfortably and are reasonably strong (like the Nintendo Switch’s analogues). The face buttons are really “clicky” though, and they sound a whole lot, pretty much like the Xbox controller. Overall, it works flawlessly with my iPhone 14 Pro Max, even though the fit is not as “secure” as it would be with the iPhone 14. The iPhone Pro’s cameras get in the way a little bit. But it’s not a deal breaker, not like you’ll use the thing while you’re running. Can’t recommend this enough if you like to remote play as much as me :)

Excelente!
