Someone needs to redesign the packaging

This is a good beginning to coding for preschoolers. It takes a long time to assemble (don't have your 3 or 4-year-old watching and waiting, mine could punch out some pieces, but not make the cubes and he was getting very restless), and once assembled, the pieces don't fit in the box. I can't believe that someone didn't think this through. I can put them in a plastic bag or something, but then it makes it harder for kids to find it when the rest of their games have brightly colored boxes containing all of the pieces! The actual activity itself I think will hold limited interest. There are only 12 animals. It's a good intro, but I wish they would add more designs on a website. The directions suggest making your own animals, but this nullifies the coding aspect unless kids are old enough to make the codes themselves, which this might be too simplistic to hold older kid's attention to do that, but I'll try it with my seven-year-old and see. One of the big advantages when I bought this activity is that it is made from cardboard pieces, so I can recycle it easily if I can't donate it and not contribute to more plastic going into a landfill.

Less than amazing

This is a cute idea, but a few things didn't work as well as I wanted. First, the blocks were too big to be stored in the box once they were assembled. Second, because you do the folding and assembling, they aren't really square enough for stacking properly. My 5yo got frustrated that they toppled occasionally. Third, once you've followed the directions, there's not much else to do with it, especially since they fall over. The whole thing is kind of anticlimactic. From the picture, I thought the blocks were more solid, maybe even magnetic. And maybe if there were a blank form to make your own code, that could be even more fun.We had a bit of fun for about 20 minutes, then put it on a back shelf and forgot it was there. Basically, a huge waste of money. I'll probably be donating it to a preschool, where at least it'll get a bit more use.

Updated review

I am updating my review as I accidentally reviewed the wrong item and didn’t want to negatively review an item inappropriately. That being said I cannot really comment on the quality of the product as it was a Christmas gift for a niece. But she and her father seemed interested and pleased by the idea from what the package presented. I think overall it was a good alternative to “typical” gender based toys for the holiday

Good game

Really cute game. We bought it for my 6 year old as a Christmas gift and she enjoys it a lot. It does have a lot of pieces, and the character boxes need to be completely disassembled to put it away, but gameplay is fun and easy. The cardboard pieces are very sturdy, I see it lasting for a long time.

Four Stars

Got it for my 3 year old. She is still a year away from "getting it"

Almost clever, but not quite.

concept is good but the packaging is a total fail - the bots dont fit back into the box once they are put together. Shame they didnt use the coding approach to the packaging.

Great for Girl Scout Robot Patch!

Used this at my Daisy meeting to teach the concept of coding as part of our STEM Robot badge program. The girls (age 6) absolutely LOVED it.
