Here are my early observations:This Mission Battery Base for the Echo Show 8 Generation 1 and 2 meets or exceeds its Amazon product description.1) The Mission jumper cable, supplied, connects the Show 8 to the Base exactly as shown in the installation guide drawing.2) The magnetic base holds securely enough (when seated properly) that when the Show 8 itself is picked up the base remains securely attached.3) The charging circuitry is strong enough that even though not initially fully charged, the battery base can power the Show 8 and continue to charge the base's batteries simultaneously.

This battery stand allows my Echo Show 8 to come with me into the kitchen and bathroom. It has a magnetic attachment, which is firm enough. The price (£23.99) was reasonable, too. I wouldn't want to pay more for it.

Bought one of these so that we could take an Echo Show 8 into the bathroom. It arrived completely dead so needed charging. Oddly, there was no instructions to tell you for how long before initial use (as other battery bases seem to do) and it wouldn't charge just on its own. It had to be connected to the Echo (as per normal use) before it would begin to charge. I left it overnight and it was fully charged by morning.In terms of setup, it magnetically attaches to the Echo in the same way as the official stand does so it's secure enough (when seated correctly) and looks neat. The four blue charge LED indicators are on constantly and cannot be turned off or dimmed while in use (which might be an issue for some night time use). In terms of battery performance, I would say 5 hours at 50% volume streaming content is about the very best it will achieve.The only downside is the connecting cable from the base to the device itself. It just seems longer than it needs to be. This is the case with other Mission battery bases (recently bought one for the new Echo Spot and that was the same - too long) and it just makes the whole thing look a little untidy and a bit "Heath Robinson". Other bases look a lot better with shorter right angle connecting cables. Also, it seems a little expensive (at almost £50 at the time of writing).Otherwise, this looks to be the best solution to make a Generation 1 or 2 Echo Show 8 truly portable.

Delivery is really good.

It worked the first few times, but then died. I can't charge it, it doesn't respond to the power button. I tried to raise it with Amazon but because it was outside of the 30 day return period they just gave me the link to the manufacturer. Tried them and they diagnosed internal battery failure and said to request replacement from Amazon. But of course Amazon say it is too late... Worked less than two months. And I now see I'm not the first customer with battery issues and short life on this product. With a product like this it is fair to expect it will work more than 30 days!Edit: got in touch with customer Services again - Mission indicated that as it was within 6 months I ought to get a replacement but as they are US based they don't fulfil that, Amazon has to. I got through to an Amazon agent and they just gave me a refund.
