Q: how hot can this tape get? i want to tape things to my car dashboard in texas.

That’s a very good question that I do not know. But. The few pieces that hold some wires to my windshield have been holding. But I do know when it sticks it’s not easily coming off

Yes, you should be able to do that. Depending on the width of the light, you might want to cut several strips, but I'm sure it would work. Just make sure both the light & the counter surface are clean & dry -- using an alcohol wipe works well to clean smooth surfaces. I used this tape to mount my security alarm touchpad to my stone tile backsplash & it worked very well -- that way I didn't have to put any holes in the wall or through the stone tiles. Also, it works well for a lot of other things. I'm sure you'll find other uses for it too. What's nice is you can cut the tape to fit various shapes if needed -- I used it to mount some window sensors that needed to be at the same level - I actually stacked 2 or 3 on top of each other & it worked to get both sensor pieces to the same level. I've also had good luck using it outside to keep an electrical cord in place on a ledge.

It does not really come off walls. And rips easily. I think glue might be a better solution to fixing the gate. Just make sure it will bond to the material the gate is made from.
