Very Helpful for Lower Leg Swelling
I purchased these for my mother after she had hip replacement surgery. Some swelling of the lower extremeties is normal after surgery, and my mother's wasn't extreme, by any means, but her doctor suggested that she used compression socks. They fit perfectly, though she wasn't able to put them on or pull them up by herself right after surgery (she couldn't move very much), so I helped. They were snug, as they were supposed to be, and it was a little challenging getting them on since she couldn't really help much by moving her legs.Other than that, though, she wore them as directed, and the swelling went down pretty quickly. Within several days, the swelling was gone and never came back. She also didn't have any issues with blood clots/embolisms.I should also note that these come in different sizes, so make sure to click the link for sizing information on it's product page. One is supposed to measure the widest part of their calves and length from floor to knee. For my mother, we decided to order "Large" - if I remember correctly, her calf size was about 14" or so.

Not for extremely large feet and ankles
I bought these for my very large son, after his cast came off, after foot surgery. The doctor said he had to wear such stockings, but that if the hospital supplied them, it would cost about $80, and that I could buy them for much less money at the pharmacy or online. My son wears size 14 5E shoes. These Futuro stockings are called large, and the sizing chart suggested that it would be the right size. But they just didn't take his huge feet and ankles into account. They were not too tight at the calf, just at the ankles and feet. I was hoping that because they are "moderate" tension, that they'd be stretchy enough. But they're not.
