As toys go, this is a well-made one with nice level of details, attractive colours, a fairly good resemblance to Gen 1 Optimus Prime (especially the face), and overall good build quality. However, as several reviewers already mentioned, it is rather small, and the transformation is extremely simple so at $29 it's not worth it. I got it for $21 during Black Friday and even then it still feels overpriced. And though the description does mention it, it bears repeating that this will come in a plain cardboard box and the toy inside is just in a small plastic bag - definitely not what would get a kid excited if this is a gift. My idea is to find and print a high-res image of Optimus Prime from the Web, glue that onto the box and voilà: a much more giftable package. Click Helpful if you like my idea. I have purchased other Transformer toys on Amazon (multi packs) and this one is the best one yet! Easy to transform for smaller hands, also perfect size. My 4yr old loves it. Seems very sturdy and high quality plastic. Also stands up perfectly as a Robot (some of our other cheaper ones don’t). Well worth the money and I will be buying more of this brand in the future! Highly recommend for small fans!!

I bought this transformer for my grandson for Christmas so he hasn’t played with it yet but it appears to be sturdy. I was disappointed though when I went to Walmart and saw basically the same toy for $20 (I believe I paid $35) and it was in a box that the child could see through with pictures all over it. The one I got came in a plain cardboard box which takes a lot of the fun out of it for a 3 year old. Check other outlets prior to buying from Amazon since I found several items this year were higher priced than other retail stores.

This would be fine as a $10 stocking stuffer, but an absolute rip off for the price you pay. The toy is otherwise fine, but not at this price point. You can get a much bigger Optimus for the same price, or less. The 'packaging' makes it appear used, and embarrassing to gift someone. I was so mortified when this arrived since I had no time to return the item before Christmas - I had to buy the child a second gift to compensate for this toy.Carefully read the specs and reviews BEFORE buying.

So for the people complaining that is not wrapped in more plastic, are you kidding me?! The toy is more accessible to the kid to be able to play faster, it's a great gift that is being a little more gentle on the environment (albeit it's plastic and comes in a plastic bag). Super easy for kids to transform the toy, better for younger toddler age kids. I agree it's it's overpriced but it has so far held up to rough play and seems pretty sturdy. Everything is expensive these days, I would have preferred to pay about $10-15 but I got it on sale so I can't complain too much.
