As someone with thick, coarse Type 4 hair (but larger curls), I needed a brush that could help define my curls without tearing through them.What I noticed right away is how well it clumps and defines curls when used on damp hair with product. I mostly use it during my styling routine or to refresh older curls and it consistently helps bring definition back without excessive pulling or breakage. It also works for detangling in SMALL sections when my hair is conditioned.The brush feels sturdy and I like that the cushion has some give. It doesn’t feel rigid against the scalp and it’s also easy to take apart and clean, which is a big plus when dealing with product buildup or shedding hair.That said, over time, the bristles did shift slightly from their original shape, likely because of the density and resistance of my hair type. It still works, but I can tell the brush has had to work hard so durability might be a concern for long-term use on very thick textures.

This is my second purchase of this brush (only bought a second one because I forgot my first brush somewhere else). I love this brush! For context, I have thick curly hair (about type 3b to type 2a but mostly 3b). This brush detangles my hair so quickly, gives my scalp a nice mild scalp massage and does a great job at maintaining my curls. The brush quality is great, like I said I’ve used my first brush for around 2 years with no issues. The gold “denman” logo only slowly started fade at the end of the 2 years which is great quality to me. Just fyi, I do not submerge my brush or use it in the shower. I would recommend rinsing it after use to maintain a clean brush without any build up. May be hard to clean given the bristles are pretty tight together. I love this brush and probably won’t ever replace it as it’s hard to find a good brush for curly hair!! Highly recommend.

i just got this brush two weeks ago and i’ve been using it every time i do my hair. for reference i have THICK 3c hair. for anyone with a similar hair type (don’t make the same mistake i did by getting this version), id recommend getting a wider brush with more bristles unless you’re fine with separating your hair in LOTS of little sections to style. that’s what i had to do and it’s made getting ready take a little longer but this brush will give you results instantly. just brushing through a piece of hair once already gives me more definition than any other styling brush i’ve used.overall rating: this brush is REALLY good but make sure to get a larger one if you have thicker hair! i personally think it’s worth the price since other reviews are mentioning how it lasts a decent amount of time

I had high hopes for this brush after a lifetime of brushes getting full of dust and being hard to clean. Part of why I got this brush was the recommendations stating it could last a lifetime with proper care. Info find it somewhat difficult to clean but definitely easier than other standard hair brushes you can pick up from the store for $10. I love the colors also. Downside to this brush is that because it doesn't have balls at the end of each prong, it's pretty scratchy on the scalp and can hurt a bit. After about a month of use now, the brand stamp is also starting to disappear. Otherwise works great.

My stylist showed me how to use the brush to help define my curls, and it works great. Love the color too!!
