Good little camera
When in the case you cannot change the mode from video to picture, you have to remove it from the case first. As default from boot it will start in video mode.Good little camera, takes decent pictures, sometimes the fish-eye effect is a bit annoying, but they still look good. Haven't got to try any proper video's yet - as in action/helmet-cam, but it looks like it'll do the trick nicely.

good but...
I bought this to film my activities and after three days of extensive use (cycling and walking) this is my verdict...It's worth the £40 I paid for it but no more. The picture quality is good at 1080p and 720p but if you think you can record things like walking or cycling to an acceptable viewing level, think again. The video quality when using the camera mounted on a bike (or even hand held) is terribly shaky and practically unwatchable. I've tried using every image stabilizer available without paying hundereds of pounds and none of them work to a level you would call great. If you want nice smooth video then the only way you're going to get it is if you use iOS, so you can use Hyperlapse (Instagram). There is nothing available for Windows users unless you fork out serious cash for Adobe After Effects (or other comparable software). Even YouTube's image stabilizer doesn't iron out the shake to a level you can accept. I've wasted hours and hours trying them all.The colour reproduction is faithful to real life when choosing the auto white balance setting. Battery life was a surprise, as it's advertised at 90 minutes but after 90 minutes it was still going strong (video set at 720 (1280x720 pixels)) and had a full bar of battery indication still left after 90 minutes. It comes with a number of different mounts, so you shouldn't struggle to set the camera up how you want it. Navigating the menus is a bit of a fiddly process because there's only two buttons to do it all. So expect to press the wrong one a few times until you get used to it. The camera records video in .avi format, which isn't ideal (H.264/MP4 would've been better) but it's a widely used format, so any editing software you use should be able to handle it directly. The protective case is sturdy but I haven't tested its' water resistent capability yet (advertised water resistent to 15 metres). If you dropped the camera I think it'll be pretty well protected. The lense it a very wide angle lense, which produces image warping at the edges. Being wide angle it's useful for capturing a lot of the scene but just be aware that things towards the edges of the shot will bend and warp quite a lot. Quite desirable sometimes but not all the time. One main drawback is that although you can select the maximum length of the video record time (loop recording) as off, 3,5 or 10 minutes, the way SD cards work means that you will only be able to record in 2 gigabyte sections (when set to "off"). When recording in 720p mode this works out at 14 minutes per section (will be less for 1080p). I noticed that when one 2gb section switches to the next it misses a few frames in between, so continuous video editing of film longer than 14 minutes is not always possible without some kind of jump in the video edit. This isn't a fault of the camera but more an inconvenience in the way data is stored by an SD card.As I have a couple of D-SLR cameras I haven't used this one for stills, but I can imaging the convenience is a lot better than lugging around a big camera and a load of lenses. The capure mode (still photography) has many settings and if they all work then it's a pretty nifty camera, as it covers pretty much every type of mode yolu may need. But accessing all those things will be slow and clunky due to the fiddly menu navigation.Over-all it's not a bad piece of kit, as long as you don't want to shoot activities that will shake it about a lot (unless you can use Hyperlapse technology (iOS)).

I like it, but it's true that
I like it, but it's true that, when you use it in water, due to the difference in temperature, the lens tend to make the photo a bit blurred or foggy. But a great purchase for that value.
