Q: Will these protect table from hot plates?

No! these did not protect my wood table. The plate was not even that hot, I was able to carry the plate with my bare hands, albeit, I did not touch/feel the area where to food was on the plate. None the less I would not use them to protect your table.

Q: Are they of a heavy weight?

Medium weight. They were sturdier than I expected. They definitely lay flat.

Q: Can the runner be cut? I have a 48" coffee table, that I would like to use it on.

I don't know because I didn't try cutting it. I let mine hang over the coffee table although it doesn't hang straight down. It is too still for that. I do like it a lot.

Q: Can I buy only the lime greens? I don’t care for the other colors
