CulliganOR-100 O-Ring for Big Blue Housings 3-Pack

I bought 2 of these because I had been using the original o-rings on my two big blue filters for several years. They went in fine but when I changed the filters six months later these had stretched about an inch or more making it impossible to fit them back in the filter housing. They had grown a lot! luckily I had saved the old o-rings and was able to put them back in so I could have water. Had I not, I would have had to go on a search for replacements. I read somewhere that this is common with o-rings but I had reused my old ones for 8 filter changes and they had never stretched. The only thing I had done differently this time was use the food grade lubricant Food Grade O-ring Lubricant - 4 oz Tube found here on Amazon, instead of petroleum jelly so maybe that had some effect. If you do order these, you may be replacing them with every filter change (which is probably what you are supposed to do anyway) so order some extra!

I purchased replacement o-rings for my Culligan whole house filter system after noticing replacement o-rings weren't included in the filter purchases.I've only replaced the filter media once after about 12 weeks of use, but I warped the o-ring when attempting to reinstall the bowl with the new filter. I ended up surgically repairing the damaged o-ring so I could resume using the filter (as opposed to bypassing the filter). I bought several rings, but I only expect to use a replacement ring maybe every 3rd or 4th filter change, just for good measure.

these o-rings come twisted to fit in a small package. when you untwist them two things happen:1. they wont lie flat. fix that with silicone lube in the grove to stick it in there2. they have stretched and don't fit in the grove making them useless.

Worked fine for my big blue filter canister. I had to warm the o-ring in warm water to get the wrinkle out due to the way it was twisted in the bag. After warming and using a small amount of sealer it fit and sealed fine.

I needed this to replace the O ring on my large GE water filter and it works fine.I find if I lube the O ring with a little silicone plumbing greese these O rings can last many filter changes.

Seems to stretch over time, but fits well enough to seal if I coat it with a little butter.
