Great filter but assembled wrongly by the manufacturer
Some people have complained that the filter dump out carbon powder in the water.Once I received the filter I checked myself before installing it and I have noticed that whoever fills the filter cartridge put the filter sponge on the bottom of the filter instead of putting it on top as it should be. Lol!!I emptied the cartridge on a newspaper, took the sponge out from the filter cartridge bottom, put the carbon powder back, placed the sponge on top and closed the filter cap.It worked like a charm.I hope that the manufacturer will realize their mistake and fix it because it is a little bit annoying to do this operation on every filter change.

Dumps mountains of charcoal dust in the water
After running about 40 gallons through it, the TDS of my water going into the filter was 0 ppm, but still coming out at 15+ ppm and unusable. So obviously, it's just dumping carbon powder in the water. I messaged the company for advice on what to do and they didn't respond.I finally got fed up with it. I emptied the carbon into a container with RO water. The water turned black. I titrated off the fine particles and added clean water again, turning black again. It took ten flushes before the water was clear. Another 5 before there weren't floating particles. Immediately after reinstalling, the output TDS went down. The next day it was back up to 12+ ppm.Not sure what to do. If I move it pre-membrane, it'll clog the membrane and I'll be filtering waste water for no reason, also the flow rate will go up making it worse. I guess I'll try adding another sediment filter on the end. Obviously, buying from a different company next time, too.Pretty annoying. Especially when the seller finally messages me back and they just boast about how great their product is and gave me exactly no help. I sent them all this in a reply and they still haven't responded. You guys are welcome to come over and have a delicious glass of charcoal water.

Seems legit
Bought it for use with chloramine treated tap water in a freshwater aquarium. I didn't use water conditioner. I'd expect if this didn't work, my fish would be dead. Full disclosure, I'm using this with an ro system, so it passes across the media slowly. My ro waste water has also been used with hard water aquaria with no ill effects.I've since added a two stage just for my kitchen, using one of these to remove chloramine. Ice is more clear. No off taste from refrigerator door or kitchen faucet. Simply better water for pasta, rice, soup, and coffee and shouldn't damage my refrigerator filter. My refrigerator filter never lasts. I end up with large white particles. I think this is chloramnie damaging the filter media. Just a guess.By the way, if you've got chloramine, you've got pH ~8.4 and carbonate/bicarbonate through the roof. Prepare to descale. Good news is you're drinking alkaline water from your tap, which makes good coffee.

Good filter. Performs good.
Great product. I have used activated carbon filters for years and I agree with other buyers, it comes installed wrong but issue can be fixed. I have been using this filter for a month now, corrected issue with sponge filter as soon as I received it, and it is performing at best. Recommended.Note to manufacturer, tell your assembly line to correct sponge issue and you will get many 5 stars.
