Stop working after one trip
Initially I liked this item. It was easy to install and on the first trip, worked great. I used it in a river that averaged 30-40, and reached depths of 80 feet. The marina is about 6-8 feet. It worked while sitting still or while at full speed. The next time I put it in the water, it would not read in the marina and when it did, it read between 400-600 feet. When I pulled it out, I checked the transducer and it was still installed as originally placed. Checked wiring and all was good. I emailed Hawkeye and they are a joke. Their first reply asked me to read a help article which had nothing to do with the issue. When I pointed this out, they then asked me to take a video of the unit out if the water, then in the water at 15 feet, then the unit displaying the numbers I told them. No technical advice offered at all, just video to show I wasn't lying. Their 2 year warranty sounds nice, but it sounds like you may have to get congress to approve before you receive any help. I'm not even asking for a replacement at this time, just reasons why this could be happening so I can diagnose. However sounds like the person answering the emails hasn't even researched and has no knowledge of these units. Due to this poor customer service, I will not be buying anything else from this company.

Worked good, easy to install
The main parts are good and rugged.Which threw me for a loop when they used a cheap plastic piece to hold it to the boat what I figured it would be some kind of a metal bracket to match..but the plastic bracket seemed to hold up, time will tell

Works well at lower speeds
Installed in a 20’ deck boat. Haven’t had it on lone but initially it seems good. Fresh water lake up to 100’. It works fine and appears to be accurate. It will stop working at speeds over ~20 mph but the transducer may need adjusting on the transom. It does interfere with a fish finder depending on which frequency (200khz) I have the fish finder on. For this reason I may throw this gauge on a switch. This was a exterior transom mount. Running the transom wires was difficult but not because of the product. Pretty basic wiring. The gauge sits out a bit compared to my other gauges but not too bad.

Good buy
There is not much space on my boat control panel for installation of traditional fish finder type depth finders. This mounted nicely and works rather well. The mounting location is on the side panel as there is no flat surface on the instrument panel but this works well. The low depth sounding alarm is very loud, good for me with hearing loss. The readout works well in direct sunlight if not wearing polarized lenses, okay with. Depth readings seem to be very accurate. Water and air temps are a big plus. Installation was easy with the instructions supplied. I had it professionally installed because my boat was in shop anyway for outdrive work, it cost me only $70. labor for install. Had item two days after ordering. In summation, I am really happy with this purchase.(MA, Lake Anna, VA USA)

Horrible product and customer support is just plain rude
Horrible product and customer support is just plain rude. I've owned this for over two years. The depth feature was intermittent at first and hasn't worked at all the past 2 seasons. I tried working with NorCross support and they really don't think this can be anything other than installation error. I've had this professionally installed, professionally rechecked, watched the videos, and did the many tests NorCross asked for. After all this time and expense they finally agreed to allow me to send it back at my time and expense for their review and test. Based on the ringer they ran me through to this point, and their reluctance to offer that, I just don't believe they'd give this a honest look and won't continue to through good money after bad. In the end their support staff used course language at me in their emails. They do no wrong in their world and rudely resent customers who present facts to the contrary. I've ordered a competing product, we'll see. I have two other boats with depth finders (German and Lorrance) that work well. This is mature technology and should not be this hard.Update: I installed a new Faria depth gauge in the same location and the same way. It works great! I can't tell you how angry I am at NorCross for being blamed for bad installation when they sell a crummy product. It was probably a bad transducer, all they would have needed to do was to send me a new one like a good company would do.

You get what you pay for
This isn't a bad sounder, but its not a great sounder. It's middle of the road. The components/housing are fairly cheap and very basic. I feel like it I toy too much with it I might crack something. It works - not well, but it works. It claims readings on speeds well above where it performs. I lose consistent readings above 30mph. It typically displays "---" from 30 on, with an occasional read. Not a huge issue as my draft above 30mph is pretty shallow, but annoying nonetheless. It also registers false reads on a somewhat typical basis - meaning, I'm in 60 feet of water at least once an hour or so it will sound a low water alarm as if I was in 3-4 feet. Not a huge issue for the casual user - I'm not constantly bank fishing or anything where this might be continually annoying. I've turned the alarm off for the reason though - something I would like to keep on for safety issues. I use it for laying anchor (knowing how much rope to expect), safety for skiers, and clearance on certain spots on the lake. I do appreciate the water and air temp, a really nice and usable feature. All in all, its a fair sounder, and probably worth the money. If I had it to do over again, I would spring for something nicer. Company shipped quickly though, so that was appreciated.
