This requires a 12V power supply. In my use, I crafted a power supply using an old 12V cell phone charger by wiring the charger and fan together. Works great to cool a network switch in a tight space. You may be able to power it with 12V of battery power, but I had not tried that.

Typically, once you repackage it (or if already packaged) start the return process, including why its being sent back (damaged while shipping) they'll email you a printable label, once they get it - they'll send a new one out. Or you can just buy the new one now, and send in the broken one and get a refund. Cash/Debit usually takes 3-7 days, amazon credit is within 20 minutes to an hour.

Q: Will this work on for a hp pavilion?

Probably not, the hp pavilion desktops don't usually have a 4 pin fan port on the motherboard other than the cpu fan port. Open up your case and see if your motherboard has an additional 4 pin fan port.
