I use and recommend this barley flour in bread baking (~15-20%) for added nutrition and beta glucan. I specifically like products from Be Still Farms.

Flour is fine and I use it in most recipes calling for AP wheat flour except breads made with yeast. It will be stiffer and needs a bit more liquid than wheat. It is whole grain and the bran is evident so use it knowing that. I am unable to digest wheat well but barley does not bother me.

I had never tried organic pearl barley grain before and I must admit that I liked it, especially as this organic grain provided great digestive health support.At 8 grams of dietary fiber per serving (excellent ratio of 1:5 for ratio of dietary fiber to total carbohydrates), it certainly helps you to be regular with bowel movements.Just be patient as it may take up to an hour to prepare for consumption.

Cannot stress enough how wonderful this barley flour is. I purchased it over a month ago and have used it to replace half of the flour in several different baking recipes. It adds a very very subtle nutty flavor and improved texture in my pecan sandy recipe.
