Faster than DPNs for sock knitting
I got my first set of these needles yesterday afternoon. I immediately casted on for a sock and by late evening I was almost ready to start the heel. Here are my honest thoughts about these for sock knitting. I am an avid sock knitter, and I knit top-down only. I know my pattern in my head and I'm a fast DPN knitter. It took me about 5 rows of 64 sts to get comfortable with these needles. I find that I hold the back needle with the points between my thumb and forefinger on each hand. This is similar to what I do with DPNs, so that wasn't anything new for me. I do believe that I knitted faster using these needles. I wish there was a fourth needle however. I prefer to leave the instep stitches on one separate needle when I'm knitting the gusset decreases. If I start at the back of the heel and knit to the point where I need to decrease, I would have to have a marker there to remind me and then knit half of the instep and then go to the second needle and knit to a second marker where I do a SSK decrease and then knit to the back center of the heel where my round begins. This may not make sense to you, but it is so much easier to do the gusset decreases with all your sts on 3 needles instead of 2 needles. I will buy a second set of these needles to use for sock knitting. I also knit many chemo hats and I currently use DPNs for the decreases around the crown of the hat. I doubt that I will use these needles for that purpose. The needles are expensive; however, they are slick which is tricky with tiny sock yarn for the first 3-4 rows. After that, I don't have any problems with sts falling off the needles like some folks say. I think I will like these needles better when I get a second set to use so I'll have 4 needles when doing the gussets of my socks. I have many Addi needles and I love them. I do like the fact that there is a blunt end as well as a rocket point on the other end of these needles. That comes in handle when knitting tiny sock yarn.I do not have any trouble using DPNs, and because I don't have issues, these seem to be fine. I like to learn new things and try new tools, so if you're like me, buy a set of these and give them a try. If you hate DPNs, you may love these, but I'm here to tell you that you will still have a bit of a learning curve dealing with the points of the needle that you are not using. If you don't like fiddling with 40" cables using the magic loop or two-at-a-time socks, you will love these needles. I think most folks don't spend enough time trying something new. It takes a while to get comfortable with anything new, so give these a shot. I think you'll like them as much as I do.

Poor joins
I only work with sock yarns so I purchased a set of size #1. The joins were not smooth at all, had to ease the yarn over each time, really slowed me down. It might be easier with larger sized needles, but these are a no go for me.

Not impressed
I’m not impressed. The needles are nice enough but I see no advantage to them over two long circular needles for sock knitting. Using two long circular needles only requires two needles whereas the flexiflips requires three. Also the flexiflip which is not in use gets in the way but long circulars do not. I’m also not impressed with the two different tips. Who wants to have to check to be sure you have the correct tip every time you pick up the third needle. Again not a problem when using two circular needles.

Great in between size for sock knitting
I really like the FlexiFlip needles for sock knitting. They're easy on my arthritic hands, and having all my stitches on two needles while I knit with the other helps to speed up my knitting. The true circulars in a size which is appropriate for socks are just too cramped feeling, and seem to aggravate my arthritis. Using two circulars slows me down, as does magic loop knitting (and I'm forever forgetting and pulling too many stitches through). I also love that I can choose the presenting end which is most appropriate for my yarn. Usually I like my sock needles pointy, but if the yarn is splitty, a blunt point is better. As always with Addi, these appear to be very well made. This size, being right in between US 1 and 2 fills in a vacuum in my collection. As I'm a spinner (I also hand spin some of the yarns I work with), I'm used to pulling a loop of yarn through the holes in a needle gauge to determine the best needle size. If it fits without being squished in at all, and fills the hole, that's the size I use, since I was taught to knit to gauge (tight or loose knitters would need to adjust how that works for them, or better yet, adjust how much tension they put on the yarn). Sometimes, 1 is too small, and 2 is too large, which is why I wanted these. They'll be perfect for the socks I'm about to start.Thank you very much for reading my review. Buy two sets
Got to the gusset in my sock construction and these failed altogether in my book. Had to move everything over to my usual US1 Addi Turbo Rocket circular needles. I liked the feel of the FlexiFlips, but needed one more needle to get through my project. Think 3 needles in a bigger size would be fine for hats and the like, but for socks, mittens or gloves you need at lease one more needle. Also be careful which end you begin each row with. Nice to have the option of two different tips, but I found that the blunter end opened the stitch too much and left the work uneven. I am sure I will enjoy using these needles often as soon as my next set arrives.

Between DPN and Magic Loop, But I'm Not Giving Up my 9" Circs.
I don't do DPN - I am a 9" Circ knitter, but everyone was raving about these, so I HAD to try them. They are much less fiddly than DPN, for sure. I like sharper tips, so Addi always lacks a little there, IMO, except on the lace tips.I can totally see myself using these to make my tiny advent calendar socks that are too small for even my 9" circs.

Innovative but try these before you buy
Addi is a trusted brand that makes top quality needles. I did hope and want to like these. They seem like an advanced design for knitting in the round, but aren’t ideal if you have large hands. The length from tip to tip is not much longer than the width of one of my hands. The added convenience of the flexible section is offset by resulting awkwardness — it slowed me down. I suggest borrowing a set before spending $30. If you have a comfort level with the short length, then splurge because these are well made and innovative.
