Nothing last forever, I just had to replace an old brown module witch lasted 28 years.

I just receive two PAM02 appliance modules. One works just fine, the other does not work at all. I have used X10 devices quite a bit and know their inherent problems. But this unit is BAD! It looked a little funny when It came out of the box because it was not set at address A1 like all others I have bought. This was set to some strange address. I suspect somebody found it was no good and put it back in the box and then it was sent to me. Well, I will have eat the cost because it is not worth my time to drive to the post office to hassle a mail-back. But, I will never buy from "Home Control's' again. Wasting my time costs me money.Update: After complaining to the seller:'Home Controls', both 'Amazon' and 'Home Controls' sent me e-mail responses. 'Home Controls' immediately sent me a new unit which I received within a couple days. So, I have a little better feeling about the order and will upgrade my comment to 4 stars.

I have been using X-10 products since early 1980s. They just work. In the late 80S/ early 90s I owned a very large distributor of these products, and they made a good deal of money selling extended warranties as they were never returned for free replacement... I still use some of my modules from that time frame... That's just good quality for a product considered by the industry as antique and junk. There are issues with the antiquated technology, but they are easily overcome. But most of all, they work consistently from my experience.These are passive devices that wait to "hear" a low signal that rides on the power line. This is where the issues are created and in some locations these will present problems.Some will say x10 is unreliable, and yes, 100% they are not. But cheap, easy and good enough, they are.

This is definitely more sensitive than my older, failed unit. I use it interface to my home control system which turns the hot water tank off when we're not at home. This new unit works great.

I have a lot of X-10 modules and devices and had purchased this to replace some older units.This unit is a good unit, but the X-10 technology still falls somewhat short due to issues with line noise and phase issues. I was hoping that the newer AGC (Auto Gain Control) would help with some of these issues, or at least help with the issue if it were related to line noise. Overall the unit is a solid unit and works as described.

Forget the older X10 modules. This is the one to buy! I have several of the older modules. From the start they were unable to read the signals in my 4,000 sg ft house. The Auto Gain Control worked right out of the box. I am happy - they finally did it.By the way, I was almost ready to but the newer X10 type modules like Insteon are priced at $50, I was going to buy them but found that new X10 fit my needs!

This version works better than the non Pro version in that when you turn it off, there is no leakage current. When I used the non Pro version to control LED Christmas lights, the lights would still be lit (very dim) when the module was in the off mode.
