Want that classic bomber jacket look without the bulk the l-2b scout is your answer. Inspired by the classic l-2b we produced for the military, this lightweight variation features a matte nylon shell with a nylon lining that is reversible to emergency orange (with the exception of the vintage white color way). it delivers breathability and water resistance for the warmer temperatures of spring.

Military Issue Styling with Commercial Flair
I own two original issue Alpha Industries jackets, an MA-1 and a L-2B issued by the US Army with the Mil-Spec ID inside the pocket liner dated 1973. Nothing used to say "pilot" better than a military issue Alpha Jacket. Just like the leather A-2 a generation before it. Today I guess it's popularity defines a lot of people in a lot of ways. Times change. I ordered my latest addition L-2B from Alpha Industries as the other two are becoming a little worn - especially in the sleeves and collar. The Stratos color I ordered is a sort of old olive drab. Very nice and still has a military appearance. The new jacket has some differences from the original however. There are pockets on the inside as well as the outside. The original issue had none inside. Should be a nice addition as I often use the inside pockets on my heavier MA-1 issue. The new style L-2B has two logo marks that I would rather they not be there. One is an Alpha Logo stitched into the wind break flap behind the front zipper that really is distracting. And there is also a little cloth loop tab in the left sleeve cigarette pocket. Tacky and unnecessary though some folks may like them. I cut it off. As for quality it appears to be actually better than the originals. Especially the knit sleeves and collar. Much better in fact. Hopefully it doesn't get holes as easily as the old originals did.

FIT/ SIZING
I am a XL in Alpha regular jackets and a XXL in Alpha sim fit. I am 5'11" 210lbs and I chose an XL in this jacket. My mid section is fairly flat with just a little bulge. If you have a protruding stomach maybe size up but I fear the sleeves may be too long for you.It looks great on me now....hopefully I don't gain any weight since this cut would not be forgiving I don't think.IMO this jacket is meant to be worn up on the waist and somewhat slim fitting. The color STRATOS is IMO not presented very well in the color chart. What I received was less saturated compared to the picture. I still like it though and the quality is decent..

in which case you'd probably be better off with some kind of down filled jacket
A stylish and authentic version of the ubiquitous military flight bomber jacket. Alpha Industries was the original manufacturer for the military and this version lives up to the original's specs. Well constructed with authentic details. There are two versions. A lined version and an unlined version. I purchased the unlined which I think is more appropriate for everyday wear -- unless you live in a very cold climate, in which case you'd probably be better off with some kind of down filled jacket. A word about sizing. The jackets run a bit small. Consider buying one size larger, unless you really like a snug fit, or you're never planning on layering under it. All in all, a high quality product.

For females curious about how the Men’s sizing would work on them
I read reviews that females have bought mens jackets from this brand and I decided to hop on that train. I am a female and bought this in a men’s size Small. The jacket is still pretty long (hit halfway at my butt) and is baggy, if you don’t mind that look. I’m 5’6” / 32B bust / 25 “ Waist for reference. Other than that the jacket is great quality, I will just have to buy this in women’s sizing next time.

Alpha Industries L-2B is a great jacket
As expected the Alpha Industries L-2B is as advertised authentic. Everything else are just poor copies. I fly with mine and it’s great for keeping the chill off in the morning without worrying about overheating. Fit overall is fitted so keep that in mind.

Slim fitting jacket. Know your measurements.
As expected, it hugs the body as it's a slim fitting jacket. Don't expect to layer up unless you upsize and even then, it'll be tight. The quality is good and does well to protect you in the fall or spring.

Great fall jacket, more form fitting than the puffy MA-1
This is a light jacket, which is what I was looking for. It has no padding inside, basically like a windbreaker but with two layers of fabric. The MA-1 has thick padding inside which is more suitable for cold weather, while this is more fitting for fall weather, or layering with other clothes. I didn’t like the MA-1 because it looks too puffy and baggy, but this jacket looks much more casual. It’s perfect!

Size is a tad smaller than I would like
I believe I ordered this in a large. It certainly is slim fitting. I would buy it again in a xl. I'm 5'11 160lbs
