Used as replacement for Stabilus Lift-o-Mat 8851SQ left supports. Apex 100N/22 10" gas struts have similar dimensions compared to Stabilus but still fit easily and worked perfectly. While none of the doors weighed more than 15 lbs. a single Apex 100N gas strut easily lifted the door and held it in place until lowered by hand and released. A "soft close" plunger kept the door from slamming shut. A single gas strut vs. two is a great savings. Not only that, Stabilus struts cost up to $40 apiece on-line! Another great installation note is that if you have existing mounting hardware (such as my case) you do not need to install the supplied Apex hardware. Apex struts fit perfectly on the existing mounts. Very happy with this purchase and heartily recommend their use.

After finding out I was going to be a first time dad. I kicked into bob the builder on starting to redo my office into a nursery. I decided to build a custom toy box built into the closet. After getting it built I realized the lid closed a little hard for my liking. If a newborn baby decided to open it up it would easily of slammed there fingers right in it. After so research I came across this and felt it would be a perfect addition to prevent any fingers From being smashed.. after figuring best way to install it worked just as I planned and comes down very slow without slamming.. overall great product to its intended purpose

These things worked perfectly for the toybox lid I was trying to fix for our daycare. We have a large ottoman type thing with a lid that is a medium weight—heavy enough that it can pinch fingers, and just heavy enough that the kids can't really open it which is annoying because they would slam it, sometimes on a kid, and then everyone would complain that it was closed. So what do I do? I order these bad boys, slap one on each side, and boom, it's absolutely perfect now. It gives enough lift power that the toddlers can open the toybox without issue, and give enough staying power that only an adult can close the lid without much effort. The motion is very smooth. I am amazed at how well it worked with so little effort to install. I wish I had more things I could install these on, lol. Would probably work on a larger toolbox.
