I'm gonna be honest. When I bought this bath mat, I thought it was...well, a boath mat...squishy, made of some soft cloth...this is what I get for not reading properly. When I got it and felt its weight, opened it and felt it's unmoving hardness, and re-read what it was, I was skeptical. It is MADE OF DIATOMACEOUS EARTH, for pete's sake. But i already had it, and I'd already tossed my old bathmat, so I figured I'd give it a try. I put it in my bathroom and then took a shower. When I stepped out, it...well, got wet from my feet and dripping self, but sure as it advertises, it was dry shortly after. it's not soft on your feet, by any means, but it soaks up or dissipates the water in short order. I am happy that I misinterpreted the ad and bought this. It's great.

I was shocked at how well this works. I bought this for an elderly parent as I wanted a floor mat which wasn't a trip hazard and to prevent slips out of the shower.Wetness: I don't know how it works. I ran water over it to test it out. Very quickly it felt bone dry.Grip: It's quite amazing actually. When you step on it. It's like it locks your feet in place without sticking. You can walk perfectly fine without any gripping. If you try any lateral slide. Your feet aren't going anywhere. It also includes a rubber mat to go underneath. To help grip tile and fill out unevenness in the floor.Tripping: The mat is solid and very low profile. It has a low trip risk I'd say. Definitely less than a regular mat which can catch on your toes and trip you up. Which is a big risk for people with limited mobility. This certainly does the job.Cleaning: My main gripe. You can't use cleaning products as they can damage it. Just rinse with water and wipe. Which can be a bit of a pain. It's a small downside to all the upsides.

This bathmat is compact super absorbent and easy to wipe clean. The winning feature for me is the absorbency. I have two young men using my downstairs bathroom which also happens to have hardwood floors in it. For some reason it is beyond their capacity to pick up a wet bathmat from the floor and hang it over the bathtub to dry. I bought this bathmat because I’ve given up expecting adult behavior. No more nagging. They’re happy,I’m happy, my wood floors are happy.

I have 2 big dogs and water bowl visits result in loads of drooled and splashed water in the area. In the past it was no problem with cleaning but our new house the watter was running along the grout in between floor tiles and pooling in problematic areas. The quantity of water hitting the floor is enough to overwhelm any type of mat. Read enough reviews of dog mays and you'll see it's a issue for big dogs. On the the review part. It's not big enough to catch all the spatter but it does catch most of it, especially the drooled out water as they back away from the bowl. As far as absobancy... Large spills will sit pooled on the surface for just a couple of minutes before vanishing. It dries rediculously fast and is yet to be over saturated after a months use. Now with drool water and kibble particles the mat does discolor and I bout a grey one to hide this a bit. After it's covered with inconsistent coloring it looks natural. Also cleaning is easy. We set it on end in the kitchen sink. Hose it down and lightly scrub with an abrasive pad. Note that this is essentially a big stone and comes with a fine sand paper disc for cleaning. When its completely soaked you are supposed to leave it sending in end to dry which takes only a few minutes, then back to service. I'm stoked it's working so well for our purpose and hope other dog owners find this review because it's the best product for our problem.

The first few times we used these mats, it dried pretty quickly. It shortly created stains on the mats and did not absorb the water. It is uncomfortable and not stable. Easy to slip because there is no grip on the other side of the mat. The stains do not go away when you try to clean it and it does not look pleasant. There was a delay in moving to our new home so by the time we started using these mats, it was too late to return.. we bought two mats and regret it very much..

I was surprised by the fact that this product came straight from Japan with Japanese package and all. OK, that's promising.After I start using, I instantly fell in love with it. Once you step on it after shower and feel that sense, the sense which your feet get dry instantly and comfortable, you can never step on any other bath mats which makes your feet all soggy and wet and disgusting.Word of caution: this product is not designed to support a few hundred pounds of weight. If you are to jump on it, it likely going to crack. So you may want to step on it gently and make sure that the product lays on the flat surface so that the pressure will be equally distributed on the surface.It also came with sand-papers which you can scrape off mold if it starts to spread. Luckily, I never came across using it, but it's nice that they included in case.

I was hesitant in getting this mat becauseI wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. But boy, we love it!!! It has a warmth to it after stepping out of the shower. Not crazy hot but just a little comforting warmth. The absorbency is so cool. As soon as you step on the mat it begins to absorb the moisture. There’s never a mold smell to it. It’s very easy to clean. Just run the shower water on it and scrub. The only thing I have to say is you have to be very careful when handling the mat because it will break if you are not gentle. There is a non slip mat that goes under neath it as well. I highly recommend this and would buy again!

From the reviews on Amazon, I knew not to expect a squishy bath mat however, I wasn’t expecting such a mess. I purchased the dark gray mat and whenever my husband and I step out of the shower, onto the mat, then onto our white tile, there is a dirty footprint left behind for us to clean up. When the water spots dry on the mat, there is an outline left behind. It does not dry as shown in the videos on this page. Not to mention; the mat has started to bow and no longer is flush with the bathroom floor. I’m not 100% satisfied with this purchase.
